Remarks
Course eligibility was basic which prevails in every other college. Applications for admission were made available online and fees payment and documents submission was also online. In the admission process, because it was merit-based reserved categories that got their reservation benefits and the Kashmiri candidates also got their reservation benefits, I come under the unreserved category so I could not get reservation benefits. When I applied for admission it was completely on a merit basis but the college admission will be done only through entrance exam mode specifically CUCET.
Course Curriculum Overview
I am a student from a commerce background so I chose Bcom (Hons) because I want to further do MCom. In our college faculties are very good, they bring in vast experience and knowledge. They are very good mentors and are very helpful. Most of the teachers are PhD holders and many of them have served as teachers in Icai and Icmai branches. Teaching methods are also up-to-date because of the use of smart classes and presentations. The term exams are held timely and the level of difficulty is moderate if you revise and listen to the teachers in the classroom.
Placement Experience
Talking about campus placements final semester students are eligible for it. Many large companies have visited for campus placements like Mahindra, Icici Bank, etc but the no. Of offers and candidates selected is very low. The average package ranges about 180000 for Bcom students but the number of offers and students getting placed is low. The placement cell needs to improve more. I am a CA aspirant and after graduation will join for articles.
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a Central University the fees is very less than compared other universities. The fees structure of Bcom is as follows :(semester wise) 1st - 4200, 2nd -2800, 3rd-4200, 4th- 2800, 5th -4200, 6th-2800. The university also helps in getting the students various scholarships for financial assistance. The sc/st cell is very active in scholarship matters. I am currently in the 4th semester so I have not got any job.
Campus Life
The annual fest is organized every year and the tech fest is also organized mostly conducted in November or December. The library is very good and a lot of books and journals are available. Classrooms are very basic and sometimes boring though most of the classes are now equipped with smart classes. There are a lot of sports and extracurricular activities organized by different departments. There are many student-led groups for music, sports, literature, photography and many more. The music band named Tarang is very popular around the city.
