Remarks
To get a chance into the college you will have to appear on an admission test. A merit list will be created based on your 12th board marks and the marks you obtained in the admission test. The calculation of marks for the merit list changes every year. But you will have to score at least 80% in the board's exam in the subject you're opting to do b.sc in. And score good marks on the admission test. The admission test is not that hard but the questions will be conceptual. You will be needing a good knowledge of the subject you are opting for.
Course Curriculum Overview
I always wanted to pursue Physics so I chose B.Sc honors in physics. This college has a pretty good reputation and I got selected for the admission test. So I enrolled here in physics Hons. Now in my batch, there are around 50 students. There are 7 permanent professors, 3 lab attendants, and some guest lecturers. Every professor has a Ph.D. degree and many many research papers in their name. The faculty is helpful. They even help students and clear doubts outside of college time. There are 2 exams in each semester, one is a mid-semester exam and the other one is an end-semester exam. There are no pass marks in the mid-semester exam but you will have to get 33 out of 90 (10 marks for attendance) to pass the entire exam. To get good marks you will have to study throughout the semester but to pass, the last 2 months should be enough.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college fees are higher than the other College which offer these courses. there are 6000 Rs. tuition fees in each semester and an additional 1500 Rs. will be charged before every end semester exams. Apart from these, there are also mese fees. The college does not provide accommodation of its own. You will have to stay in a mess nearby if your house is not close to the college. A decent place to stay will cost you around 2000 rs each month and for flooding another 2000 Rs. Now there are scholarships like the swami Vivekananda scholarship, Inspiron scholarship, etc. The former one is for those candidates who belong to economically weaker sections. The latter is purely merit-based. There is an exam for DST Inspiron. If you qualify for it, you will be eligible for this scholarship. Now the college being a degree college does not provide jobs on campus. But after completing the course you can try jn private sectors. The college also doesn't provide internships of its own.
Campus Life
There aren't a lot of extracurricular activities in the college. There is no annual college fest. Every year, the college authority organizes a fresher's welcome but that's not a lot of fun. But some department organizes a fresher's welcome for themselves. You will observe many seminars throughout the year. If you are interested in the subjects you can enroll yourself. There are no college clubs. An annual sports event is held every year.
Other Applied Colleges
Shibpur Dinobondhu Institution | B.sc Physics Hons
Because the college that I am studying in right now is better than this college, facultywise.
