Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (abbreviated SLIET) is a Govt. of India established (1989) deemed university. The institute initiated certificate and diploma programmes in 1991. The eligibility of the Course (Diploma) is: Candidates who have passed 10th from a board recognized or established by Central/ State Government. Admission in Sant Longowal Institute Of Engineering & Technology for Diploma course is on the basis of All India Normalized Merit of 10th class. Admission criteria in SLIET for Diploma course is getting a Secure rank in Set-V examination. And Application fee of Set-V exam and other information related admission is mentioned on the website (sliet.ac.in) There are 75% reserved seats for Punjab & 25% seats are for other states. I choosed Computer science Stream because I think there's a lot of future scope in this Branch. The Computer Department of this college is excellent. It has different labs and smart classrooms. There is 30:1 ratio of Students and Teacher. Faculties of this college are highly educated. SLIET recruits Teachers with Qualification of MTech and PhD as per the post. The teaching methods of the teachers are really amazing and Under stable. They frequently use English language during the lecture. There are 2semesters in each year. Every Semester consist of 2minor examinations of 15marks each, 2quizes of 10marks each, and a Major Exam of 50marks. As SLIET is a deemed University so, it has its own Syllabus. If you try and Study hard, you will not have to face any trouble during the Exam terms.

There are different company which offers internship for the Slietians in their company. like: Solitaire Infosys, TCS or any Other Company. You can join these companies by giving a written test and interview. After the joining, you can get a stipend up to 10,000/month.

There are a lot of companies who comes for recruitment in SLIET. But for Diploma course there is not good package offered. So after Diploma, You should pursue the Btech degree and go for the placement. Many companies like TCS, Infosys, HCL, Amazon, Ralson, HP, etc. visit for the placement. The highest campus placement in SLIET Campus is 12.5Lakh p.a. in 2019. There is a average package of 3.5lakh p.a. for CSE department with Placement rate of 80%.

SLIET offers TFW to 3toppers of the class. i.e. Student with TWF will have to pay only half fees of the Course. As it is a Central Government funded University so there is a affordable semester fees for the students. SLIET assures 100% campus placement with average of 3.5lakh p.a. salary. There are a lots of companies who recruits in the Campus with different and attractive packages for the freshers.

There is a Central Library in SLIET. It has high availabilities of Books and journals. You can issue books from the book bank for the Semester. There is also a digital library where you can study. There is very good amenities in classrooms like: Size of the Classroom, Lighting, Temperature Control, projector and etc. There are a lot of Sports clubs in SLIET. like: SLIET Cricket Team, Basketball team, volleyball team, Kabaddi team, Taekwondo and etc. There are so many clubs in SLIET. like: Technical Clubs, Social clubs, Literary clubs, Sports club and etc. Some of them are Happy Club, NCC , NSS ,Hindi Club , Endeavour and etc.

There are 14 hostels in SLIET. 10 hostels are for boys and 4 hostels for girls. Maintenance and Security of the Hostel is very good. In each room there are 2 fans and 2 led bulbs and Consist a space for 3 students. Each hostel has a Mess for the meal. The quality of the meal is not too good but the price is Cheaper than the Other places. You can register for the hostel at the time of admission in the institute. The hostel charge is absolutely affordable i.e. 1800 per semester.
