Remarks
SHUATS conducts its exam which generally consists of aptitude and the subject domain you opted for your intermediate. After that published result in which rank is provided. After that, you have to attain counseling at the university itself. I secured a 208 rank due to which I was eligible for admission on various courses except for b.sc agriculture, which requires a rank under 115. Then I went for the document verification process along with hostel accommodation. It takes a whole day in all these processes.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose B.tech agricultural engineering because it is a perfect blend of agriculture and technology. Plus it is one of the flagship courses of this university and provides jobs in the private and government sectors. Faculty to student ratio is 1:120. Most of the professors are foreign returns with solid domain knowledge. Teaching methods are similar to other universities which include 40 minutes of lecture along with long practical classes inside labs and farm fields. Classes begin at 9 AM and overs at 5:30 PM. They give lots of assignments and practicals and class tests are very often followed by three unit tests and 1 end semester exam. All the exams are easy if you attained classes and read class notes.
Internships Opportunities
University provides internships to 3rd-year students in all the government institutions such as ICAR. Also, they give recommendations for other institutions as well and encourage students to find internships on their own. I did 3 internships of which 2 are provided by the college itself in DVC and Escorts tractor training, CFTRI Mysore, Budhni, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee struture - 48,500 per semester (tution fee) Hostel fee- 25,000 per year Mess fee- 24,000 per year They give scholarships to financially weak students but you have to apply for them. They do not offer any merit-based scholarships.
Campus Life
There is a lush green campus of 1000 Acer which gives an aesthetic view and very beautiful red brick buildings in every department. Labs, clubs, and a central library is there with more than 2000 books and journals. Classrooms are of old fashion with green boards and benches. A lot of sports activities are there in December. Karate, football, cricket, etc. are there where you can enhance your skills. Clubs, photography clubs, and many more are there for uplifting your skills and bringing out inner talent.
Hostel Facilities
SHUATS has 4 hostels inside the campus which have a capacity of 5000 students . 2 hostels are for girls and 2 are for boys. They provide 2,3 and 4 seater rooms with AC and non AC. There is an international hostel also for international and overseas students. Mess is also there on the ground floor which generally provides mixed food with a south Indian touch. They provide three times meals that are breakfast, lunch and dinner, and tea also. Hostels are first come first serve basis. You can also find rented rooms around the campus at a very affordable cost.
