UIET From My Eyes

UIET, Chandigarh is a public college under the administration of Panjab University. It accepts admission on the basis of merit obtained in JEE Mains Exam to its BE courses. The application form is available online at the time of admissions on the institution's website. The college gives reservations based on the category of the candidates by providing relaxation in the minimum rank in the JEE Mains Exam. The college should also give relaxation in fees for the category of students. The college infrastructure needs improvement.

The course teachers have high qualification and have excellent teaching experience. The course also provides good internship and very good placement opportunities. There is about 1 Faculty member per student in UIET. The faculty members are highly qualified professionals and high degree holders with some of them being researchers. They are well equipped and have excellent communication skills. The teaching methods do vary from person to person and hold years of experience in teaching. 4. The calender(1 year) in UIET is split into 2 semesters. Each semester has 3 exams namely : Minor-1(30 Marks), Minor-2(30 Marks) and Major(or End Semester Exam){50 Marks}. The best marks out of Minor 1 or Minor 2 are used in final evaluation with 20 marks in activity and 50 External. The exams are quite easy to pass if one has been studying and attending lectures regularly.

Since I am First Year student. I don't have much information about this field. However, UIET does have any internship opportunities but very few seats are available and there is a tough competition in this field. Many recruiters and the Ministry of Indian Government provide students with internship opportunities for about 6 months in many fields like getting skills, developing new technologies as well as research in fields like agriculture and the power sector.

Many students opt for placement after completing their courses both on campus and off campus placements. Many companies like Amazon, Samsung, TCS, Mahindra, Infosys, Cadbury, HP, Deloitte and many more are recruiters at UIET Chandigarh. With about 445 offers. The highest package was 45 LPA while the average package was 9.5 LPA. 90% get placement in UIET with the highest placement of about in CSE and IT Branches. I would also like to get placement in a reputed company for a high package and work as a software engineer.

The fees of 99325/- per year along with 5500/- for student activity fees (without hostel) can be considered as high and may be unaffordable for many families. Being a public college, UIET should relax it's fee structure. However the institute provides many scholarship opportunities for students. For eg Post Matric Scholarship, Toppers Scholarship, Merit cum Means scholarship, etc. Also students can avail scholarships from the state they belong to which makes it easy to pay the institute fees.

The college conducts many annual and monthly fests, activities, sports events and inter branch competitions giving full opportunities for students to compete and enjoy. Some of them are Aavishkar 2012, Goong UIET 2013, X-Factor 2014, Effi-Cars 2016, Izaad 2019, and many others. There are books and journals available in Library for all the branches by the most famous researchers and writers. The large variety of subjects available in the Institute Library makes it very attractive (basically Engineering). Also, students have access to the AC Joshi Library of PU which houses material for all courses(including Engineering). The classrooms are well ventilated and well lit with natural sunlight also. Lecture Halls have stepped floors for better view. Sports events and inter-branch competitions are very common in UIET. Ranging from outdoor and indoor games. UIET has its own Instagram pages and many others accounts on various social media applications where details of all events are given.
