Assam University Silchar in a nutshell

60 percentage in Sanskrit and 60 percentage aggregate in HS examination would be sufficient for it. However entrance exams marks are also important. We had entrance test of 100 marks with all multiple choice questions, and the questions ranged from History, geography, polity, literature, philosophy, epics, puranas. Now the university has developed proctored mode for entrance test and the administration has got the lum sum duty of it. Anyone having Bachelor degree or similar from reputed institution is enough for the application. Application form are filled online applications are accepted within the due dates only. Reservations facilities are given to students who are due.( As a general category student I have less idea).The administration is the one which provides the facility. You would need seal signature from respective HOD. The rest of the job is of the Administration. As the admission process in the Departments would be better than the administration. It would improve the process.

I chose the course as I got a Bachelor degree from Sanskrit from JB college, Jorhat. And applied for MA in Cotton University and Assam University. I cracked both the exams but opted Assam University for its natural beauty and hilly surroundings. Plus the faculty . And the alumni's attracted me and the scope for future research program is also great. The ratio of faculty: students is 1:10 including PHD scholars. All the faculty members are having more than 10 years of experience in Assam University itself. All of them are Dr. Degree holders and exceeded the professor rank and got reader or other equivalent ranks. The teaching method is very much sophisticated in terms of understanding . Every paragraph is broken to sentences. Sentences into words words into letters. This is the way we are taught. The term exams are timely but COVID 19 hindered it hard. Now they are going on timely. If the classes and courses taught managed well it is more than enough to pass .

In arts stream the fees is almost 1/2 of science stream. We had to pay 9000 for the first time admission. That covered 1st and second semester. However there is another fees for exam form fill up that is 1100 which is to be paid before the final exam of each semester. In the 3rd semester we paid 10000+ bus fair at the time of admission. The payment is to be done in any UBI branch near you and photo of it is to be sent to the group of your department where the teacher are present. The rest would be done. For the exam form fill up, it is to be done online, Rupae card is necessary for that. Scholarships are available. With fees returns tuition fees is returned to the students if applied. Students can opt for only one scholarship in a study session. All types and kinds of Scholarships central state, score based , subject based and caste based scholarships are available. Students Of science stream and Business Administration mostly get the placements while in their final years.

Annual Auskriti which has cultural, literary and sports events occurs in March April. Abhyudaya is the management feast . While there was no corona every week in the summer had a feast or fresher, even signifying the community, such as- Noumati Nepali fresher. Every department of the university conducts freshers meet. Annual feast and University week is awaited as 2 years University is unable to conduct due to Covid. Every year Bihu is celebrated in Assam University. Many books and journals are available, here.
