Remarks
To get into NIT Warangal, one has to go through JEE Main exam. During my shift, the maths exam was quite tough, and Physics and Chemistry were easy. I got 216 marks out of 300 and an overall percentile of 99.167 ( AIR 8566). I got into NIT Warangal Mechanical easily. I could've also got EEE but I think I have some interest in Mech so I chose to be here only. The admission process is done by JoSAA councelling and you are allotted a seat according to your All India Rank.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Mechanical Engineering because I have some interest in it and I don't like Circuital branches. Also, the Mechanical engineering department is very good here at NITW and the faculty are very well educated and experienced. The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:12 which is quite good. Exams take place every semester but there are minor exams in between almost every month. It is quite easy to score if you follow the classes regularly.
Placement Experience
Many students get internships in the 3rd year 2nd sem. If you have really good skills you stand a chance to get internships even before that. Last year around 350+ companies visited during placement season including Amazon, BPCL, Deloitte, Google, ITC, etc. Almost 85%+ students were placed with the avg package being 10.4 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fees are INR 62500 per semester and then there are other fees like hostel fee ( 8000 per semester, Mess fee 3500 per month ). If you have joined any club or something some extra money is charged from you ( in exchange for experience. Believe me it is totally worth it). The top 10% of students from each section get merit-cum-scholarships which cover their entire tuition fee. Many scholarships are there for SC, ST and OBC students.
Campus Life
Two fests are there in NITW, The cultural fest is called SPRING SPREE. It is one of the best annual college fests in India. The atmosphere during this time in college is unexplainable. The technical fest is called Technozion. A lot of technical events take place and there is a lot of competition among the students to show their skills. The library is huge and has a lot of books. You can easily borrow books once you get your ID Card. Sports facilities are excellent, especially for Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, Table tennis and Football. Many clubs are also there. Some of them include Robotics club, Dance and dramatics club, MechXHausters, Mechaholics, quiz club and many more.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are of double occupancy in the 1st and 2nd years. From the 3rd year, you get single occupancy rooms. Big enough rooms are there. The washrooms are okayish and are cleaned once every two days. Mess food is just OK and you'll mostly eat your meals in food Street ( which is also just average). Hostel rooms are easily available and the fee is 8000 per semester for hostel rooms.
