UIET Chandigarh is quite good in comparison with many other colleges. It has been developing decently over the past years. It is backed by some good faculty, excellent placement record, the stature of being engineering department of world famous university i.e Panjab University. CSE and IT being the most demanded job fields, enjoy the status of being the best branches of the college. Various reputed companies like Infosys, Gemini Solutions, Unisys, Jugnoo etc have been visiting the campus for placements.

AIEEE, Rank 25950, however now AIEEE is not the criteria to get into the college as IIT exam is considered for the admission. I had the option of UIET, CCET, CGC Landra. Since UIET is the best amongst all three, I preferred it. Admission process was simply the counseling that takes place. When your slot comes, the student needs to book his/her seat based on the seats left /available.

Course consists of 8 semesters. 1st year consists mainly of subjects students are already aware of like physics, advanced mathematics, thermodynamics, etc. From 2nd year onwards, core subjects start like Strenght of Materials, Advanced Thermodynamics, Theory of Machines, Heat & Mass Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, etc and Last semester included either 6 months training in any organization or attending classes in the college. Now, as per my knowledge, it is compulsory to go for 6 months outside training.

NO, college does not provide any internship. One has to get it done from his/her own sources, however placement is in hands of college

Placements at UIET are organized and conducted by the Training and Placement Committee with the assistance of students and faculty. Arrangements for pre-placement talks and interaction sessions could be made upon request. Some data of 2013 - JSW Steel @ 3.96lpa, Honda 4-Q @ 3.9lpa, Cadbury @ 5lpa, HMEL @ 6lpa.

Top three students of the batch get a scholarship from the university of around 50000-80000. You have to score good for the first year in order to get that scholarship, and the same gets repeated year by year based on your performance.

campus life - great, huge campus, its own market where everything is available, situated in the middle of the city gender ratio - 40% girls 60% males extracurricular - there are many clubs and committees in which a students can enroll him/herself once selected labs - all engg department labs and workshops are available in good number sports - a huge ground is available, PU ground is famous and many sports activities do take place over a year. Competitions - students can participate in inter-college competition on regular basis and college supports their participation in the best possible manner

Hostel in first year is on triple sharing basis. From second year onwards, it is on double sharing basis. In final year, students get preference over other students and may get a single room. About food, breakfast and snacks arrangements come under the canteen of respective hostels Lunch and dinner arrangements comes under the mess of respective hostels. Lunch is above average, however dinner quality is not that good comparatively.

They are trying to maintain their alumini network in the best possible way. This initiation has been started recently and is going at a good pace.

Exams are conducted twice every semester along with practicals. Lab visits takes place once in four lectures. Two subjects were covered in a single day in midterms. They are easy but conceptual based. One cannot clear them by cramming anything. The library is spacious enough to accommodate many students.

The form was procured from PU website for about Rs. 2000, and it included 6 colleges under it. 5 Engg colleges and 1 architecture college. Notification was released around mid of June. Administration was supportive of each step and the whole process was went smooth.

Faculties are knowledgeable, available for any query solving or giving a helping hand in any new project started by students.
