Remarks
For all B.Tech courses at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, you need to appear for JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) now conducted by NTA. You must have passed/appeared in your 12th/Intermediate board exams from a science background having physics, chemistry, and maths as your main subjects. For other than Btech courses, one has to appear for the CUET entrance exam. The University follows the same counselling process as IITs/ NITs but in exceptional cases (if seats remain vacant), they conduct spot counselling where JEE rank is preferred. For updates, it is advised to regularly check the university website which is ggu.ac.in. Reservation policies are same as all IITs/NITs.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was a mix of technical knowledge as well as managerial aspects of the industry hence seems to be very interesting being non-monotonous. Currently, the faculty-student ratio is around 1:6 All faculties are highly qualified with Mtech and PhD. from premier institutes(IITs/NITs) of the country. In terms of research, some have and are currently working with foreign scholars and research enthusiasts, all of them have published journals, papers, and published thesis on their names and some also have a few patents registered. In terms of teaching methodology, you would definitely enjoy some classes as few faculties really have a good way of keeping you focussed on the theme of discussion. Exams are tough to crack in the first year but once you are through, the teaching for subsequent years will be so good that acing exams will be a bit easier. All exams are conducted timely and the university has a good sense of catching up with the timeline quickly in case there is any delay.
Internships Opportunities
For internships, the Industrial Relations cell and individual departments approach PSUs and other notable organizations which offer internships & training for students. Projects are clearly industry-centric and help to realize what is actually needed by such companies.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. By now companies like Epam, American express, Allstates, Gemini solutions, Byju's, Aloha, Techment, and several other IT services, consulting, product-based and ed-tech companies have visited the campus. The highest package was around 16 LPA and the average was around 5 LPA. The highest number of students are placed from IT/CSE backgrounds. Off-campus placements went also well as the highest package goes 20 LPA+ every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost of the study is almost one-third of what is charged in IITs and NITs. The locality outside is cheap as the institute is situated on the outskirts of the main city. There are multiple scholarships and internship opportunities. The School of studies in Engineering & Technology is working well in terms of internships and placements.
Campus Life
Life at the university campus is awesome, there are various fests named Equilibrio (SoSE&T), Lex Ignitia by Law Deptt, and many more of that. The library is huge in terms of volume and diversity and you will get course books as well as leisure books and novels, people even found Harry Potter there. Classrooms are now becoming smart classrooms as a new setup has been installed. In terms of sports and other extracurricular events, the auditorium stays always busy with events throughout the year. The annual sports fest is conducted by the Physical Education department. There are various university-level and school-level clubs in the university for magazines, dramatics, music, alumni relations, placements, coding, etc.
Hostel Facilities
The New Boys Hostels are good as it was allotted to us in 2018 for the first time. Rooms were spacious and were on a twin sharing basis with individual beds, cupboards, tables, enough charging ports, and common washrooms on each floor. Every floor has a laundry room, pantry, and at least one special washroom for the disabled. These special rooms are open but still not fully functional. The older boy's hostel is under renovation but is still lacking in terms of infrastructure as compared to the new one. Although, the food of the older hostel was said to be much better than the new one. Meal quality was not so good in 2018, except for the "roti/chapati/bread", everything else was manageable. For students renting PG outside campus, Koni has abundant rooms starting at 1.5k/month to 5k per month on sharing basis. You can also get independent flats if you are lucky enough. You have to apply for a hostel at the time of seat booking during counselling. If you want to stay out then
