Remarks

The office admin is tricky to tackle. Library is great. Principal approachable. But the college is divided based on courses. The BMS vs BMM war never ends. Bcom and junior college nobody really bothers. Whereas the BAF, BBI, IT & CS gel along pretty well. The key to success is division among courses as the strata is completely different, somehow.

Entrance Preview

There were no entrance exam for BMM at out time. Well, there was no particular reason to opt for this college. I got into this college under BMM which was the only course i wanted to pursue.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course was one of the courses that really took the college to the next level. The college is known for its BMS. However, BMM too deserves a credit. The faculty was excellent. The student were very keen on standing out and outperforming others at festivals. And the facilities provided for BMM that time were above par compared to some prestigious colleges.

Internships Opportunities

It did have a placement cell which wasn't functional back then. However, right now our coordinator helps and encourages students to take up internships. She uses her ex-students as sources to get her students placed. Also at our time internship was mandate.

Placement Experience

2

Placement cell was not very active at our time. However, we did have a few companies visiting us to hire people. And not alone from within Mumbai. We had companies flying in from Delhi as well, I recall. Also, the BMM department is quite active in placing students during and after the course.

College Events

3

The biggest event is Tsunami - a BMS event. It has celebs and BMS students from prestigious colleges participating. The sponsorship also roll-in pretty easily for this fest. The other festival was Shishir for junior college students. If not eminent colleges, there were students from pretty decent colleges participating in it. Hinduja College also celebrates its festival - Aina at our college since they don't have an auditorium. The BMM students keep conducting poster, ad and other events - both conclave and competitive ones.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's very feasible. At our time, it wasn't a lot. We paid Rs. 14561 in the first and second year of BMM. While, in the third year, we paid just around Rs 10000. Our course was a self-finance course hence the entire fees was paid by us. BCom was merely Rs 3500.

Fees and Financial Aid

Never tried or heard about. There was a bank right within the college, where you would deposit your fees and other charges like exams, etc. But personally, I never knew about the loan facility.

Campus Life

4

Campus is one of the best - huge canteen, spacious library, IT rooms on each floor, huge auditorium, green rooms, foyer, conference room, seminar room, a great view to boast about (only 3 colleges in Mumbai are sea-facing), the famous Raju bhai sandwich, great parking area with a drop right outside the college gate, a promenade across the road. And terrace with a sprawling view of the city. Racecourse next door and great connectivity. Students from all communities and economic backgrounds despite it being a sindhi college.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

No hostel was there. However, there was a huge college canteen and a very popular sandwich shop right outside the college. The watermelon juice, pav bhaji, masala pav are among the favourites. The seating arrangements and wash basins were pretty neatly kept and the space was quite big compared to many college canteens.

Alumni/Alumna

We are helpful to the current students cos our coordinator takes help from the BMM pass-outs to place the students. Don't know about other courses. There was an alumni meeting held recently at college. Most of us otherwise plan our own reunions.

Exam Structure

Exam structure was aligned as per the university. During our time, each semester will have 6 subjects - each having a 50-mark exam and a 50-mark viva or presentation. Besides theory, there was equal emphasis given on presentation & interpersonal skills.

Admission

The admission was on merit basis. It was one of the few colleges in South Bombay that offered BMM and I was lucky to get into the second list. The cut-out was based on different fields. I got shortlisted in the second list under commerce (since I had taken commerce for my 12th).

Faculty

3.5

The faculty was pretty good. There were both internal as well as visiting faculties. At times we also had guest lecturers and people from the media industry taking seminars and workshops. Our coordinator was very motivating and would push us to go out and compete.

The area for improvement in these curriculum is to provide student the proper software for technical or practical subjects. (like photoshop, indesign, etc.)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I want to be in the film industry. I want to become an actor. This course helps us to get aware of all the media industries. Be it films or television or even radio. Now, there are even more fields such as Public Relations and Event Management. There is an almost equal number of girls and boys. The faculty have industry experience and are well-spoken. They help us in each and every way possible. The use of presentations and modules is common. The learning process is fun and easy. The examinations are conducted in a semester pattern. There are a total of 6 semesters that are conducted on time. The syllabus covers a wide range of topics such as communication, films, photography, etc.

Form third year students become eligible for campus placement. Many reputed companies like times of India hindustan times visited our college and got various students selected based on their caliber. The average package here is a around 5-10 Lakh per annum. Only those students who are talented enough for any post get selected for particular job. I'm planning to do a internship in popular media House.
