Remarks
Candidate must have done Class 12 in Science stream from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% aggregate. The candidate should not be less than 17 years on the 1st of October of the year of admission. Must take the NEET UG Entrance Test. Select JMI Institute and the appropriate reservation category in the NEET Application form. Admission will be based on the rank achieved in NEET and the list will be declared on the NEET admission result page, following which JMI will announce admission dates. No need to fill JMI admission application form separately. MCC (mcc.nic.in) conducts counselling. Cut-off varies every year and one needs to be constantly connected to the college website (www.jmi.ac.in)for updates. Reservation categories include internal quota, Muslim minority and PwD. The admission process is crystal clear and smooth.
Course Curriculum Overview
Jamia Millia Islamia University is a Central NAAC accredited A++ grade and NIRF ranks 3rd top university situated in New Delhi. Its BDS course is ranked 14 in India. Both college and hostel fees are affordable. Preclinical starts from the first year and clinical practice on patients starts from the third year onwards. Paid one-year rotatory internship in the Dental hospital of the college with the great patient flow makes it the best. The student ratio is 10% thus each student is given proper attention. All faculty members are MDS in specialised subjects with a keen knowledge of both academics and clinical practice. Some of them are even PhD degree holders. Many have their research published in international journals. Their method of teaching is fabulous. They make students understand each and every concept in great depth easily. In the first four years, 3 internal assessments take place which involve both theories as well as practicals and at the end of the year, Final exams are conducted.
Internships Opportunities
In the faculty of dentistry after completing the fourth-year internship starts which is of one-year duration. Interns are posted in all departments for clinical posting in a rotatory manner. They pay an ample amount of stipend at the end of the month to the interns. After course completion students clear NEET-PG and study for masters, some students do house jobs at hospitals, and some do practice at clinics. Other do research-related projects.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is affordable which is around 30, 000 per year. But in the third-year students have to pay hospital affiliation fees and transportation charges as they visit hospitals for medicine and surgery postings. After four years of study, there is one year paid rotatory internship in the dental hospital of the university. That payment is ample for an undergraduate student. One can avail of scholarships through the Ministry of minority affairs (MOMA), Jamia Teachers Association (JTA) and various other scholarship projects, papers and tests conducted from time to time in university.
Campus Life
Every year foundation day is celebrated on 29 October with great enthusiasm. Various departments conduct their annual fest every year like the Faculty of Dentistry -ZEST, Faculty of Engineering- SPRING FEST, Faculty of Law- TABEER, tech fest like algorithm, cultural fest like MIRAAS etc. Amenities in classrooms are- projector, whiteboard, computer system, WiFi, air conditioner etc. There is a huge sports stadium with all indoor and outdoor games, and audience seating area, gym named Pataudi stadium. There is also a grand auditorium named MA Ansari Auditorium with great seating capacity and all necessities. Conferences and various college functions are held there. There is a large central canteen where food is very hygienic and tasty. Social groups like JSF-Jamia Students' Forum(@jsf_jamia) on Instagram.
Hostel Facilities
There are 2 halls of girls' residence one is new which is within the campus and another old one which is at some distance. There is one boys' residence hall. Their halls consist of 4-5 hostel buildings. The rooms with beds, mattresses, a study table, a side table with a mirror, separate cupboard. 24hr wifi facility, water coolers on each floor, reading hall, tv room, mess. Veg and non-veg meals are provided. Breakfast, lunch and dinner with a great restaurant-type menu. Quality is great and so is the staff. One has to apply for a hostel after admission through the JMI website(jmi.ac.in) and give an interview. Selected candidates list is published and hostels are allotted. The hostel is far far better than those rented rooms or PG. One should always try their best to get selected for Jamia hostel as they are the best place where students can live comfortably and study. There are many rooms on rent and PGs available near the hostel in Okhla, Batla House area.
