Remarks

Personally i did learn a lot, but i would attribute my personal development as an individual to the college rather than what i learnt as a Mech Engg. See in practical world thats what counts. Thus, IIT's provide a culture - it's the students who have to embrace and learn to thrive their own way.

Entrance Preview

I opted for IIT - JEE 2011. I scored 355 marks in the same and my AIR was 354. IIT Delhi being one of the prominent colleges in the IIT's bucket was the main attraction. Another reasons being - it was closer to my hometown - Bathinda (Punjab). My dilemma was choosing Mechnical in Delhi/Bombay or Computer Science in Kanpur. But initially my child brain had an aversion for Computer Science thus streamlining my decision process.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum is intense and maximal. IIT offers students opportunity to not only enroll in courses from your stream but has an entire basket of courses from streams you wish for. Ranging from Applied mechanics to Environment sciences, economics to human psychology. But its the professors who are always focused on motivating you to higher education - research. I guess thats how their mind set had been and so the influence

Internships Opportunities

Internships are provided by college. It usually happens if a student approaches a professor for a summer internship on the project he has been working on. Apart from that other internships are the exchange students who come in for a semester.

Placement Experience

3

Placement and job opportunity - the main reason why IIT's are a craze in Indian society. Frankly while in IIT i never felt that importance of being an IITian. But its when i graduated and entered the corporate world that i realise the potential and importance IIT has provided me with. During the placements - IIT is hoarded with a lot of companies from various fields. But one thing that Delhi lacks is even though being a technical college with most of the focus on research, what it lacks is to provide the same opportunity for students to go for companies in their stream.

College Events

4.5

IIT has a very emmense set of events celebrated throughout the year. I would say these events are actually the core of ones journey of IIT Delhi. Main focus is on Speranza and Rendezvous. First being the sports fest while the later being the cultural one. I am talking of those times when a technical institute becomes a place for entertainment and party.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Ohh talk about fee structure - it a mockery. The fees ranging from Rs. 35/- to amounting to around 35 K. The parity in the fees structure was on the basis of reservation. Eventhough general category had to pay the most but that was also much lower what other colleges asked for. See thats the perk of being in a govt. college :P

Fees and Financial Aid

IIT Delhi has a plethora of scholarships for the students to avail but often the process screws up the entire experience. Also the eligibility criteria's are hoaxed by students, thus the dissat. I availed for Bina Dewan Scholarship which was based on my rank in class and my GPA

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is the backbone of IIT's success. Its these experiences and opportunities that help the student to achieve greatness post his college. Yeah the labs and numerous clubs extricate him. The opportunity and the challenge is intense. No one i believe can say - we didnt had the opportunity - thats the beauty of the campus. I can always imagine to go back and try some new things i didnt get time for during my tenure

Hostel Facilities

3

Although the rooms are dingy and poky but they were our life. I cant imagine how did we adjust in those rooms and end up saving some space for extra stuff. The hostel fees being a govt college is negligible Rs. 750/- for semester. Food was pathetic. On the contrary we had a lot of options wherein we could satisfy our hunger - mess wasn't one of them.

Alumni/Alumna

Alimuni network as of now is not as strong as it can be. But yeah i can see the society struggling to improve the same. Also my gut feeling the hurdle there is associated to the fact - most of the students end up getting higher education post graduation, thus a more alumini feeling for the post grads universities and also the linking with the seniors is more valuable there as compared to here

Exam Structure

Basic exam structure is pretty common. We have two minors and one majors. Minor weight-age is approx half the weightage of major. Rest all grading, weight-age, scoring is independent to professors whims and fantasy. Some have tests and projects of some weight-age while some have presentations and labs. Not to forget those graceful professors who do have a system of any one minor :D Exams tests and labs do take a lot of toil of ones life but students to tend to develop a knack for these, studying only when the hammer strikes.

Admission

Post my rank and finalizing my decision for choosing a college and stream, i received a mail from IIT officials expalining the entire process. I had to give a submit of the choices in preference order, post which my considering my rank and preference i will be allotted a seat. This entire process took around a month. Post which once our stream and college was finalized we had to mail our details to the resp. Zonal IIT's head office.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty of IIT Delhi is very well verse and highly educated in their respective fields. Its the quality and variety they add that IIT has reached these heights. The faulty is highly motivated and enthusiastic. Its the faculty that adds value to the course otherwise we could have read the books and let go of classes. Almost all the professors are past IIT graduates and have done their post grad from one of the most respected colleges of the world.

The placements of MAIT are decent as compared to market conditions. But the data shown on website or availble at various platforms is not the reality. The mass chunk of students who get a job are placed under and around 6LPA package.

When it comes to curriculum everything us fine accept 1st year curriculum. My branch is ece in 1st year i have to study chemistry and physics which is no use for anybody in future it is just waste of time pretty outdated. For 2,3 and 4th year curriculum is far better than what it is in 1st year. Odd semester starts form August and after 2 month we have to give midsem exam.1 month after midsem we have to give endsem. There is very short time period between midsem and endsem examinations.Even semester starts form January everything is same as that of odd semester.

Placements are good in DTU. Usually a student is eligible to sit in placements from 4th year. Last year 325+ companies visited the campus like google, abode, Amazon, Microsoft, zomato, samsung, maruti suzuki, etc. They all have made 2050+ offers. The highest domestic package was offered by Atlanssian of 82.05LPA. The overall average package was 16.71LPA. The average package of my branch (Production and Industrial Engineering) was 12.34LPA. And in tech branches like CSE, IT it was around 24-25 LPA. Almost everyone is allowed to sit for placements. In PIE branch around 60-65% of student got placed in on campus.
