A Historic Glorious College

For BA in Sibsagar College there was no entrance exam. Admission was given solely by 10+2 marks. A merit list was released and also a waiting list. The cutoff for English was high 70% but for other courses its fairly low like 50%. Application forms are given in the college for 100 rupees and application date starts mostly after 10+2 result are declared. Classes start form August. Reservation benifits are given to candidate who are eligible for it. They have also started giving EWS reservation benifits. The admission procedure should be online in my opinion as due to covid it was very difficult to get admission. The college used online admission but it was not very convenient as we have to go to the college for physical verification. Overall the admission procedure is smooth as covid ended now.

BA English has 6 semesters and its based under Dibrugarh University. BA English is one of the best honours to do if someone is really interested in English Literature and Sibsagar College has the best faculty members. There are four professors and each teaches a specific subject. The teaching of the professors was very good. They make you understand the novel very well. Term exams are held at 3 months and a final exam at 6 months at end of the semester. The exams are relatively easy if the concepts are cleared. The question consists of 15 marks long questions and 5 marks short questions.

Fees are taken at the start of each semester as Admission fees and right before final exams as form fill-up fees. For BPL candidates the fee is just 350 rupees and for APL its slightly higher. This includes everything except the books and uniform. For books, we received 1000 rupees reimbursement each even semester. There is no scholarship but we can apply for a UGC scholarship at the start of the course. S

Every year our college organises 2 events one is Traditional day for the freshers, In this event, the students have to wear traditional dress accordingly to their culture. The second one is our college's fest known as Ecstacy, in this event DJ and singers are called. Food, music, decoration everything is present in one place. Our library is diverse and we can find any types of book we need there from novels to comics. There is cricket competitions once a year. Inter college tournament organised by Dibrugarh University.
