To get admission to King George's Medical University, Lucknow you have to qualify National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). KGMU is one of the best medical colleges in India so, you need to score 660+ out of 720 to get admission to KGMU through the state quota of Uttar Pradesh & 690+ out of 720 to get admission through the All India Quota (AIQ). After the declaration of the NEET result, the counselling process begins through which you can opt to get admission to KGMU. Cut off for 2021-22 sessions for GEN category in state quota was AIR2400(662/720) & in AIQ was AIR950(690/720). Reservation for OBC, SC, and ST is applicable here & the cut-off is low for the reserved categories. Overall the admission procedure is smooth you just need to have proper documentation
Course Curriculum Overview
Course Curriculum followed in KGMU is based on NMC(National Medical Commission) guidelines. Each topic of every subject is taught thoroughly by the excellent faculty members & the residents. Teachers here are so experienced that they not only teach you the theory part but also give you the concept which makes you understand & to nerve forget. Besides the professors there are JRs & SRs ( Junior Residents & Senior Residents), and students teacher ratio is quite good. We have tested almost every week for assessment of our studies & there are 2 Internal Examinations in a year before the Final Professional Examination. You have to study regularly to pass the exams.
Internships Opportunities
KGMU provides you with an internship program of 1 year in the university hospital. You get a stipend of 12,500/ month in the internship. Also, the college provides you with different research opportunities & encourages you to take part in various national & international conferences & seminars to improve both academically & practically.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee charges for every year are different 1st year - 54,600 2nd,3rd,4th year - 30,000 Besides these, there is an annual hostel charge of 3,000 & monthly mess charges ranging from 3000-5000 according to which mess you join. There are multiple scholarship programs & definitely, you can get one of them like the Kotak Kanya Scholarship, Scholarships provided by the Government of U.P., In campus scholarships, etc. There is a scheme here in KGMU in the DSW department through which you can do a job on campus & get paid Rs 200/hour through which you can manage your daily expenses.
Campus Life
If you are a person who enjoys cultural programs, fests, and events then surely KGMU is for you. Campus Life is good in this beautiful campus. There are so many functions every now & then. Starting from the beginning of the year, the most famous Saraswati Pooja, Holi Celebration - "SPLASH", debate competition, open mics, etc. There is also an annual fest "Rhapsody " which is an amazing fest of 3 days. Also, there is an annual sports meet & different cricket league & football leagues. You can find every sports facility on campus. As kgmu is in Lucknow you won't miss the Clubs, Restaurants, and Cafes & the campus itself is so beautiful. There is also a swimming pool on campus for students.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels here are quite good. We are provided with a double seater room (2 students in 1 room). Each student gets 1 bed, 1almirah, 1 book shelf, 1 study table, and 1 chair. Hostels are present on campus & charges are 4000/year & they are easily available. Initially, hostels are not given to the local students from Lucknow but later they can also apply.
