An admission test was conducted by the institution. I registered and sat for the test. After the merit list was published, a routine viva was conducted, and admission formalities were done on the same day.
Course Curriculum Overview
The institution is extremely reputed for graduation in Statistics Honors. The faculty: student ratio is 1:5, and the faculty are extremely good at the subject. The teaching methods are also near-perfect. Exams are pretty standard and routine, difficult to pass well if attention is not paid in class, but fairly easy to top the class if regular tasks are completed and routinely revised.
Internships Opportunities
We had to compulsorily submit a project work in the sixth semester, which required a vast amount of work time and experience about a topic of our choosing. A number of our students used to avail internships as optional sources of experience and income. They often earned a stipend of 500 to 1000 rupees per month.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are pretty low as it is, considering the hostel expenses and infrastructure available for use. The cost to study is extremely low because staying in Kolkata and studying in a reputed college often costs three times the total cost in RKMRC.
Campus Life
Academic fests are conducted by several departments including the Department of Statistics, which are open to all departments for participation. All required academic books for the courses availed are available in the libraries. Classes are often conducted in AV mode. Sports are a regular and exciting aspect of life in RKMRC, including tournaments in Cricket, Football, Volleyball, and the annual sports meet.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are made available for all students. It is required that students reside in the hostels. The regular meals provided are healthy and homely, with options for both veg and non-veg. Canteens on the campus also make fast foods and other interesting alternatives available.
