Remarks
Finally, our college is good if you want less fees, less comfort and above average placements. There are malls outside our college and a PVR too, so living in Hostel is not that bad. College infrastructure becomes and place of small lakes in monsoon. Overall a good experience.
Entrance Preview
I studied is GSEB board for 12th science and got 82% in it. I also gave JEE main entrance exam and got 122 marks in it. My first preference was LD college, but it was out of range for me so I opted for this college as it was 2nd best after LDCE in government colleges.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was good. But, first year was mostly repetition of what we studied in 11th and 12th standard. Then from 2nd year it went to core subjects, but the course pace went slow then I thought. Then, in third year to my surprise, we were introduced to 3-4 computer languages simultaneously which was a tough job for the students as most of them(including me) were not prepared for it. And, I am yet to experience the final year.
Internships Opportunities
Frankly, there is no scope for internship in our college. They, mostly believe that students should come to college rather than doing internship and preferred that students should go for their own projects in final year rather than Company elected projects.
Placement Experience
I am yet to go to the placements as I just passed 3rd year and will go for placements from this monsoon(hope cash falls like droplets this monsoon ;-) ) . But, according to the seniors of the college placements are OK. Some good companies do come like TCS, Tatvsoft, Wipro etc. So, overall toppers can bag 4-5 lakhs per annum of they are good ad coding and presentation.
College Events
Annual techfest is conducted every year in our college. When I was in 2nd year GTU central techfest was held at our college. Apart from techfest, days are also celebrated in our College and there are also events like Garba(in Navratri), Quiz, Coding contest etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee is the best part of every Government college. My college fees was cheaper than my traveling expenses. It is around 2500/- per semester which included exam fees, library cost, teaching cost, infrastructure cost etc. So, it's great to give 5000/- per annum for a good Engineering college.
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not aware of the loan facilities in my college(as I think fees is not an issue in our college!). But, there are scholarships for SC/ST and SEBC. General category students need 95 percentile to get scholarship. Scholarship amount is around 7k-8k per year(OK as per fees and hostel cost).
Campus Life
Labs are good, Placements labs are air conditioned others have just air ;). Sports like football, cricket etc. are arranged as a part of annual sports. Campus life is good, most of the students go to Hostel inn their free lectures. Gender ratio is equal in Computer and IT, rest I am not aware.
Hostel Facilities
I don't live at the Hostel. But, sometimes I go there in free lectures, and observation is that rooms are OK for living, water is mostly not available(even drinking), so students have to go to college/GTU to fill the water for drinking. Fees is just 1500 rs per year!
Alumni/Alumna
Senior students are helpful, most of the Hostel students share rooms with their seniors who tell the tales of the faculties who we were gonna suffer in up coming years. Alumni networks are great, as sessions on upcoming technologies like IOT, Spring(java), Angular JS are conducted so that students get aware of market technologies.
Exam Structure
There is semester system in our University(GTU). So, end semester exams are conducted every six months by University. Before end semester exam, there is mid semester exam which is conducted by the College. Distribution of marks for end sem/ mid sem exam is 70/30 marks. Apart from this, there is external exam is 6-8 semester and internal viva in every semester.
Admission
Firstly there was a choice filling round taken by ACPC which is admission committee in Gujarat. In the 3rd round of this choice filling I was lucky to get admission in Vishwakarma College. Then, I had to go to college to submit my certificates and mark sheets and then the college was started with a Bridge course.
Faculty
Faculties were good(some of them). Some seemed to me very slow in their teaching due to their trivial way of teaching. But, most importantly all the core subject faculties had good knowledge of their field and were good in sharing their knowledge too. So, as a whole Vishwakarma has got some great talent in faculties.
