Remarks
To get into engineering colleges in Karnataka we need to write KCET. We can apply for kcet online from their website and later take a printout of the application and get it signed by the authorities (if you have studied outside Karnataka then there is an extra process). All details of filling and submitting the application are available on their website. After, the submission of the application, we need to write kcet exam results we need to apply for counseling where we need to enter colleges we want in Karnataka priority-wise. There will be a minimum of 2 rounds later, either you have to choose college or withdraw the application. You can get the benefits of reservation if you entered and submitted all the necessary documents(caste certificate, income certificate, etc) then according to your rank and cut off you will be allowed with a seat according to your priority. If you select a college in the 2nd round then you need to pay the college fees (almost the same for 4 years) and take admitted to college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have an interest in electronics and communication engineering so I chose this course. Faculty: student ratio is around 30:1. The teachers are highly qualified some of them are IITians and some of them are into research. The courses are designed in such a way as to promote entrepreneurship and practical application of the concepts. There is two internals with a gap of 1-1.5 months and the difficulty to pass the exam is from easy to medium.
Internships Opportunities
Some startups offered internships and the stipend was from unpaid to 40k per month. There were some semiconductor design startups. Some people got internships in Microsoft, a student cleared google summer of code.
Fees and Financial Aid
If you get a government seat(via kcet) then your fees are relatively less (< 1 lakh) and if your rank is good then you might have SNQ seats (fees <50k). If you take admission via comedk then fees are around 2-2.5 lakhs currently. Management seat fees are the same but donations need to be discussed with the authorities. There are some scholarships from the government of Karnataka (only for Karnataka students) based on their reservation. Currently, I don't know any students of the general category( income>8 lakhs) who have got a scholarship. You can try for financial assistance from NGOs.
Campus Life
The annual fest is called the Pleiades and the date varies. The library has many books on various topics and also streams. students can borrow books from the library which can be easily accessed. Each classroom has Wi-Fi and desks with switches to connect the chargers for your laptops. Many sports events are conducted both indoors and outdoors. Basketball courts, tennis courts, badminton courts, Table tennis, volleyball, football grounds, etc. are present on the campus. There are many clubs including disc(google dev club, higher studies club, etc.
