Remarks

The admission process was simple. We just had to provide our adhaar card, 10th, and 12th mark sheets, and migration certificate from the school. Simultaneously I applied for BHU, Saint Xavier's University, and Kolkata but did not attend those colleges due to some political disturbances going on at that time in those states and for many other personal reasons. I applied from the General quota. I do not remember the minimum age but the minimum required marks were 85% in 12th. The admission process was slightly annoying as the students had to stand in a queue for 4-5 hours for verification of their documents.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I had chosen Bcom honors because I wanted to pursue a career in commerce. Overall, the faculty is good except for some teachers who teach in Odia along with English. Most of the teachers are highly educated. Their teaching method is also very good. The odd semesters and even semesters were conducted promptly. The overall difficulty of the exams was medium. During the time of the pandemic, online classes were also conducted very smoothly.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students become eligible for campus placement in the final year. The companies which visited our campus are TCS, Deloitte, Infosys, and Wipro. HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank. Federal Bank, etc. They mainly offered jobs in various designations to the students of BBA, B com. , ITM department. During the year 2021 about 21%. Of UG students got placement in different companies with a median package of? 2.5 lakhs per annum. While in the same year about 2.75% of the PG students got placements in different companies with a median package of 3.5 lakh per annum. I am planning to pursue MBA after completing my graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee per year for Bcom honors is? 40,000 which totals? 1,20,000 in 3 years. Some of the seats are reserved for government quota. The students getting admission in government quota have to pay only the admission fees during the time of admission and the regular semester fees. The cost to study is very less as this is a State University. Many renowned companies come here to recruit students from different streams. These include Deloitte. TCS. Federal Bank. Wipro. Infosys. ICICI Bank. HDFC Bank. Etc.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is good. Different departments and different hostels organize annual fests from May to June. This university has the biggest library in Cuttack known as Kanika Library where we can find different types of books and journals from different fields. The classrooms are spacious and clean. They also include projectors for smart classes. Various sports and extracurricular activities are conducted inside the campus in which students from different departments take part. Sports include volleyball and cricket. Football. Badminton. Etc. Extracurricular activities include Drawing competitions. Debates. Poetry. Singing. Acting and much more. The University has a vast infrastructure. It also has a recently opened cafeteria, which provides meals and snacks at reasonable rates.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum of B.Com under Sambalpur University covers important subjects like Accounting, Business Law, Economics, Management and Taxation which are essential for future studies and careers in finance or commerce. The structure is simple to follow and helps students build a good base in theory. Semester exams are conducted on time and the difficulty level is moderate. A student who consistently studies can score well without extreme pressure. However, there is a lack of practical exposure such as industry visits, internships or real-world business case studies. Also, subjects related to modern digital business trends like data analytics, advanced Excel, and GST practicals should be included to make students more job-ready. Overall, the curriculum is relevant but needs more updates to match the current professional requirements

Placement Experience:

In our college, final-year students are eligile for campus placements. While i don't recall the specific companies that visited, one of my friends interviewed with Axis Bank and got selected with a package of around 2.4 lakh. The exact percentage of students are placed and details of average or highest packages are unclear to me, but the placements process provides opportunities of those actively seeking jobs. After completing my degree, I plan to pursue an independent career rather that seeking a traditioinal job placement.
