Remarks
I applied to this particular institution as it was the most convenient. I had no intention of doing my bachelor's away from my hometown, and DHSK is a resident go-to for Arts programmes in the town. The admission process was quite straightforward, I applied by submitting a hardcopy, a counselling process was done and after a short series of questions about why I wanna pursue the specific course, I was admitted and was asked to pay the requisite fee.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of my course is a modified version of the one prepared by Delhi University, with some additional local elements, such as books by Assamese authors. The curriculum was informative, thought-provoking and moderately difficult. The faculty was very helpful, although courses seldom were completed on time and students were expected to complete the syllabus by themselves in the end, the faculty did provide adequate support. The term exams were conducted by the University and were based on essay-type questions. Each paper had 4 units, of 20 marks each, and in each unit would be a 15-mark long question and 5 mark short question, choices were given.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee was affordable, and not much financial assistance was provided, the normal regular fees such as registration or examination fees were hiked once in a while but were never addressed. There were no particular scholarships or financial aids provided by the college except the bi-annual incentive of 1000 provided by the State Government to students pursuing higher education.
Campus Life
Sports week, youth fest, and various cultural programmes were conducted every year. The college is known for its reputation as the hub of local cultural excellence. Traditional folk songs and dances would prevail in every function. There were no book clubs or environmental clubs, however, the infrastructure was indeed there, and the functioning of these clubs was a huge question mark. The college had various WhatsApp groups created during quarantine.
Interview Experience
There was a short counselling process where I was asked questions like why am I pursuing my particulars choice of course and questions like what subjects would I want to opt for as a Generic Pass course. The interview was quick and pretty linear with no critical or difficult set of questions.
