Remarks

State entrance exam BCECE is compulsory for taking admission into Government Pharmacy Institute, Patna. Cut off are generally high for the B. Pharm courses. It is a 4-year program. Eligibility for this course is I.Sc. Application forms are available on the BCECE website for information such as exam date, exam pattern etc. Reservations are provided for SC/ ST/ OBC class students.

B. Pharm is a technical as well as medical course. In this, you get complete knowledge of medicine. Registered pharmacists are the only personnel who know the proper handling of medicine and can dispense medicine. The total capacity of B. Pharm intake is increased to 100 seats from 60 seats in the year 2021. There is an approx 50:50 ratio of male and female students. As it is a government college, the faculties are not adequate. A bitter reality is that some faculties don't even bother to take classes. University Exams are always on time and questions are moderate.

Internships Opportunities

One month's internship is compulsory for the B. Pharm course. Anyone can go to any Pharmaceutical Company for their compulsory one-month training. To date, no stipend is provided for internships but the Bihar Government has declared an amount of 1500 for internships.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is as follows 1 Year- 8500 2nd year onwards - 6100. Bihar Post Matric Scholarship is provided in this college for those students who come under the criteria fixed by Bihar Government. Student Credit card option is also available. There is a lack of proper placement cells in this college.

Campus Life

There is no such annual fest organised by the college administration. Students organise different fests such as Saraswati Puja, Holi Milan etc. The library of GPI, Patna is excellent. It has a very large collection of books up to the level of P.hd. Any student of the college can get books from the library. Social Media Handles such as @gpites on Instagram, and Government Pharmacy Institute on Facebook are run by the students of this college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In current scenarios b pharma is one of the best option to pursue carrier for becoming drug inspector or pharmacist. The frequency of exam is after every 3 months we have to give sessional exams followed by annual exams ( theory + practicals).

Decent College with Average Facilities and Opportunities

Placement Experience:

Placements in my college are average, not very high but some companies do visit every year. Students become eligible for placements from final year, mostly from 7th or 8th semester. Companies are not very big mostly local or mid level pharma companies come. Some roles offered are like production, quality control and marketing. Highest package is not very high, around 3-4 LPA and average package is around 2-2.5 LPA. Percentage of students getting placement is not very high, maybe around 40-50% approx. Many students prefer to go for higher studies or try off campus jobs. My plan after completing degree is to look for job in pharma field or maybe go for higher studies depending on opportunity. Overall placement is okay but needs improvement.

Simple College with Average Opportunities

Placement Experience:

The placements of my college is average, not very high but also not too bad. Students become eligible for campus placement from 7th semester. Some companies visit the college but not many big companies comes regularly. Companies like small pharma companies and local companies visit and offer roles like production, quality control and sales. The highest package is around 3–4 LPA and average package is about 2–2.5 LPA. Number of offers is also limited and not all students get placed. Around 30-40% students get placement from campus, rest students have to search job on their own or go for higher studies. College gives some support but not very strong placement help. Because of this, many students including me are planning for higher studies or preparing for competitive exams to get better opportunities. Overall placement is okay but need improvement.
