Life in GRIET

Admissions are taken through a common entrance test (EAMCET) conducted by the government of TELANGANA state.70% of the seats are allotted based on merit in the EAMCET.30% for management/NRI candidates.10% for diploma holders based on merit in ECET under lateral entry scheme. Once he/she attempts the EAMCET exam, if qualifies for the exam, he/she must keep application based on the rank secured by referring to the last rank of the colleges in, they are interested. On the date of the announcement of results, full details will be released about the application dates, certificate verification, etc. Once the seat is allotted, he/she gets the information about fees(if rank is below 10000 he/she gets full fee reimbursement, or he/she should pay the fees mentioned in the allotment order within the time). For the management seats, there is a donation fee based on the branch chosen. The minority candidates, get full fee reimbursement. Once the seat is confirmed, all the required documents must be submitted.

I'm passionate about electronics so I have chosen ECE. Since our's is an autonomous college, the overall course curriculum is designed by our college itself. For our branch, there are 5 sections, each consisting of 66 members(including laterals 6 for each section). Each lecturer deals with 2 sections almost, and all the faculty are PhD holders. The course is designed such that student gets a much knowledge about the subject. Faculty tries each and every possible way to deliver the content, they use good teaching aids and ppts etc. There are around 6 subjects per semester including labs. Per semester there are 2 mid-term examinations conducted and these marks are included in the final score. Out of 100 marks per semester, 30 are internal(including mid, attendance, assignments etc,.)70 marks include theory paper. It's easy to pass the exam because the final paper is moderately hard, as each and every point is discussed in the class, we can write the exam without any difficulty.

Under convener quota, if the rank of a student in EAMCET is below 10000, gets full fee reimbursement if the income criteria are also matched, they only need to pay the special fee and NBA fee, if the rank is not below 10000, they need to pay the fee mentioned in the allotment order (tuition fee) including special fee and NBA fee. The present tuition fee in our college is Rs.1,30,000. Every year's tuition fee we need to pay. 1st-year special fee is Rs.5,500 and for 2nd, 3rd and 4th years Rs.2,500.NBA fee for all the years is Rs.3,000.Library, transport, placement training etc have to pay separately. Scholarships are provided based on EAMCET rank.

Pulse is a cultural fest organised in GRIET once every two years. Spirals, Rhythms, Free Software Wing, Quizzicals all these events are conducted by the students. At least one event takes place every month. A large volume of books are available in the library, those who are preparing for the GRE they get a good collection of books and the ones who are preparing for GATE and other competitive exams do too. Classes are huge and spacious and well ventilated. Types also have projectors hence faculty use them to present their presentations etc. Those who are sports enthusiasts have many opportunities and our college is a good place for them, they can showcase their talent here. Sports include badminton, cricket football etc., and indoor games include table tennis, carroms, and chess are also there. There is a Skill Development Cell to develop various skills, AAC(Advanced Academic Centre) where many students perform projects in that centre, and NSS to do social welfare activities.
