Final Year student POV for NIT Raipur

After completing my schooling till the 10th from SIC kantwar Jaunpur, I opted to prepare for JEE mains examination as I wanted to become a computer science engineer from IIT Bombay. I went to Banaras for my preparation for L1 coaching. my rank was 88k but with caste reservation, I got admission to NIT Raipur in the 7th counseling round of JOSSA. After the allotment of college, I visited the campus with specified documents in the brochure. The offline verification process took half a day. There are 31 NITs all over India each having a limited number of seats. There are several reservations provided based on caste and minority. Also, the fee structure of some NITs gives relaxation based on the annual income of the family. The application form can be found online and it is released every year and conducted twice with considering the best result for your counseling. Kota is the best place for offline preparation for the exam while many students prefer online coaching also.

I had a keen interest in both physics and mathematics since childhood and I wanted to further continue my study of both so I chose the Biomedical engineering domain of engineering from the National Institute of Technology Raipur. Biomedical engineering incorporates engineering principles for the development of technology in the medical field. In my department the faculty-student ratio is about 1: 6. There are 12 faculties each having specialization in their own field of research and study. Also, many Mtech and Ph.D. scholars are there studying. For being a professor at NITs you have to complete your undergrad and masters from a reputed university also you have to be a Ph.D. Having a post-doctorate degree is a plus. The teaching method of our faculty is a hybrid system where they use projectors for videos and presentations on the other hand use dictation and chalk for teaching the significance and basics of the subject. They also share recent developments and research in that field of study.

We can participate for internship in our third year of btech and do have the following companies for internship opportunitiies namely ZS, fractal, accenture, Tech mahindra, adobe, Latent view, tresvista, hyperverge, EXL. We have internship for following roles namely developer, full stack developer, data analyst intern, ML engineer etc. The average stipend offered is about 25 thousand rupees per month. I have mentioned my major skills related to front-end development and react JS, and my projects were related to those only. I got an internship opportunity from Accenture and my interview was majorly based on my projects and also judged my knowledge related to the subject and tested my logic and approach to solving the problem presented. My internship experience was very good as it was in offline mode and the environment was very active and helpful. It didn't take long for me to adjust to the environment and my location to work was Bangalore city with a stipend of 25k per month for 6 months.

The students of the final year are only eligible for participating in the placement scenarios. We have a total of 11 branches in our college with a high placement percentage of 85% for circuital branches and roughly 70% for non circuital brnaches students. The average package varies with each branch also the entrepreneur and startup ratio is a little low due to limited resources but currenlty many initiatives are taken to boost the same. We have companies ranging from the IT sector with those who allow all students namely Accenture, TCS, Wipro, tech Mahindra, ZS, Capgemini, cognisant, Infosys, phone pay, Deloitte, EXL, Optum, quantiphi, futures first, tresvista, PharmaAce, IBM.

At NIT Raipur the fee structure is divided based on the annual income of the family and also the caste certificate. You have to show your caste certificate or the annual income certificate for availing the benefits of fees relaxation. Currenlty the fees for below 1 lakh annual income and caste other than general is around 4 thousand per semester, for general 1-5 lakh category it is 24 thousand per semester and for general above 5 lakhs annual income it is 70 thousand rupees per semester. This is only about the college fees. If you are pursuing college hostels then you have to pay around 30 thousand rupees for hostels and mess facilities. I am currently in the final year of my BTech degree and I have got placed through the placement cell of NIT Raipur at Accenture in the role of software developer offering a salary package of CTC 9 lakhs. An internship period/probation period of 6 months time is also offered to me by the company with a stipend of 30 thousand having its work center in Bangalore city.

We start the fests and welcome our juniors by celebrating engineer's day with DJ night. Then we celebrate tradition with Sanskriti fest, then we have Aavartan tech fest and Shruti singing fest from Raaga. During winter we have Samar fest from the Shaurya sports committee, Nritym dance club, and eclectika from the cultural committee. These are major fests that we celebrate in a year. We have a total of 29 clubs and committees including coding, go green, NSS, NCC, innovation cell, entrepreneurship cell, metallurgical society, FedEx, technocracy, dramatic club, Sahyog, and graphic designing community, etc. We have a library where you can issue books using a library card and also sit there and study on your own. Several spare systems are also kept so that students not having laptops can also work. We have several relevant labs for every branch and WiFi connectivity for students to study. We also participate in inter-NIT sports activities and also have 31 indoor and outdoor sports at our college.
