Remarks
All 12 pass candidates having Physics and Maths as subjects are eligible to apply but selection depends on 12th marks. The application form was online, there were no fees for the application form and the dates are decided by the Govt of West Bengal which is usually after the 12th results. The reservation benefit of SC is that the cutoff marks are a bit lower. The admission process is too slow. It should be faster.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have an interest in all the latest technologies and this course is providing most jobs so I choose this course. The student-to-faculty ratio is very high. In every batch average of 45 students are there and the faculty is almost 18(including teachers and lab assistants). The quality of the faculty is undoubtedly too good. The teaching methods are also excellent. Some teachers were from ISI Kolkata while some teachers have previous teaching experience in institutes like BITS and NIT Durgapur. The semester exams are every 3 months and it needs a bit of hard work to get good marks.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible from the 5th semester for campus placements. The exact figure is not disclosed by the college authority. Very few students take up placement offer as they are not very attractive and they opt for off-campus placements. After getting the degree I will be pursuing MSc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee hike policy is not applicable now as the college is a govt sponsored college. The salary of teachers is the responsibility of the Govt of West Bengal. So in that context, the college is very much affordable and there are even courses that cost around 4K per annum. The scholarship is not provided by the college but Govt of West Bengal provides 18K per annum to students scoring above 60% in the semester exams. Campus jobs are provided by TCS, Wipro, etc companies. But the package offered is not attractive.
Campus Life
Campus life is too interesting. Various student activities take place on campus and sports events also occur. Freshers are also conducted by departmental seniors. There is a huge central library that contains many books. Apart from it, there is a seminar library in every department that contains many books. Classes are equipped with projectors for easy understanding of the concept through animations. Some rooms are equipped with AC. Sports activity is good as mentioned above. There is also a dedicated sports room on campus. Till now no such groups but it is coming soon.
