Remarks

The eligibility of the course was the completion of 10th and 12th grade, with more than 50% marks. There is an entrance test called SEED, which tests aptitude and design thinking. All the registration and application process details and dates can be found on the official website. Once the merit list for the SEED exam is released, a Portfolio Review and Personal Interview round is conducted where the candidate is required to present a personal design portfolio

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course and curriculum pattern is quite unusual and actually very helpful, as multiple subject classes aren't inducted at once, however one subject and module are taught during a span of weeks. This helps the student concentrate and focus on learning a certain subject, skill and discipline. The faculty-student ratio is around 3 teachers for 40 students, the faculty is qualified and rather helpful with doubts and queries during the learning process. There is an internal and external examination, where in all the assignments are graded in the internal exam and a jury panel conducts an external exam at the end of each semester, there are barely any written examinations but rather a review of understanding and skill development

Internships Opportunities

4.5

A 3rd-year summer internship is a mandatory requirement for graduation. Multiple companies mentioned on the official website take in students for internships and perform tasks within their specialization to understand the industry interaction and the actual prospects of the job in their specialization. In my specialization, the tasks could be related to interior design, interior design consultant, furniture designer, lighting designer, commercial space designer, landscape designer, retail space design, and public space designer.

Placement Experience

4

The college offers placements, in the 3rd year for internships and in the 4th year for post graduation. Some of the companies are Infosys, Deloitte, Bajaj Finserv, Congnizant an others mentioned on the website.

Fees and Financial Aid

During the duration of 4 years, the fees hikes approximately 10% and when compared to other private colleges, SID isn't very expensive and is affordable. Financial assistance is available and details for the same are available on the website.

Campus Life

4.5

SID has its own basketball and football field, an open campus, and an amphitheater. Two major events happen annually, Shilpkatha which is a two-day fest celebrating handicrafts from India, and the FUNDAMENTAL (FDM) which is the college fest for students. Apart from that, the activities and events committee organizes a lot of fun events for the students to participate in. Clubs and societies promotes students to showcase their singing and dancing skills, while the film club elevates an interest for watching and reviewing movies. Other than this, students can opt for electives, such as the PR and promotions team working on the Instagram and our magazine Upside. The creatives team, community outreach, industry interaction, international cell are the other electives. Exhibits and showcases are put up almost every other week inspiring students in the entire building. SID is also equipped with computer and machinery labs as well as a library that provides access to a lot of design resources.

Other Applied Colleges

ISDI School of Design and Innovation | Undergraduate Program in Interior Design

The campus isn’t great and the locality isnt very safe, also the college is less experienced in teaching design studies

Unitedworld Institute of Design, Karnavati University - [UID] | Bachelor of Design [B.Des] {Hons.} (Interior & Furniture Design)

This university doesn’t have good international affiliations and exposure

Course Curriculum Overview:

The creative assignments and learnings of how to think out of the box made me choose this course. The curriculum prepares us well and we learn how to move forward. but the real world is something which we learn only when we enter the field. The teaching methods can improve by introducing more practical engagements and field visits. Frequency of exams are not to much and exams are easy to clear.
