Remarks
Eligibility for the course B.Tech is PCM in 12th Boards with minimum 60% passing marks. The admission was done through UPSEE by counseling, getting a rank of 12k I got into the branch Information Technology in the first round. The application can be found on AKTU Website, application fee was 1,000. The only improvement I would want to see would be a more transparent evaluation and faster response on the student portal.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the course because I had an interest in knowing more about computers and the working technology behind them. Also, job opportunities in the IT field are increasing with every passing day. The rough faculty: student ratio would lie anywhere between 6:70 The faculty teaching the students are Asst. Professors with only a few of them actually teaching well. Most of the teachers are strict and harsh for no apparent reason and aren't even aware of the topics they've got to teach. The HOD is the only faculty who's Professor. The teachers constantly put pressure on students to attend classes and submit Lab Files, Assignments, etc. There are 2 Sessional Exams held in a gap of around 2 months, the difficulty level is moderate to high (depending upon the level of GATE questions given)
Internships Opportunities
The same companies that visit the campus for placement often give internship opportunities to the students in the same role. Altho most of the internship offers bagged by the students are off-campus because of the high competition in the college. You need to have a Solid knowledge of the technology you are working on, and you need to have an impressive GitHub profile with real-world problem-solving projects. Having good communication skills also helps.
Placement Experience
The placements of the college have improved a lot over the years. After 6th Semester there are companies that visit the campus and the students are allowed to sit for the interviews. Many companies like TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, Cognizant, Accenture, Amazon, To The New, etc visit the college with decent packages. There are almost 80+ companies that visit the college. The highest package recorded was 43LPA, the average package is anywhere near 6LPA Almost 90~93% of students get placed every year, by the time they graduate. I have a goal to get a job in a startup and make a switch to any product based/FinTech company for better opportunities.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee hike is actually minimal and very much affordable considering the other options in Private Colleges. The yearly fee is 1,28,600 which is actually pretty impressive. There are numerous govt scholarships and policies that help students aid their studies. Also, there is a good number of job opportunities in college as a fresher in a job.
Campus Life
The annual fest held in our college is named "Genero", the techfest is named "Tech-Pravah" altho in my time it was held a few years ago and has not seen the light till date. The fests are held usually in September. There are mostly course books available in the library. The class is equipped with normal amenities that one can ask for. The class has a whiteboard with a projector for digital aid. Honestly, there is no culture of sports in the college. The enthusiasm is a dead spirit that just is in some handful of students. The overall system is designed in such a way that they promote nothing but preparing for placements. There are a handful of clubs that are run by students like - Minerva, Picturesque, Salah, Technovation, Kalakrit, etc
