An institution full of academic rigour

Management is the weakest part of the college. Paying fee is HUGE HASSLE in the college. Students have to stand in long queues to fill the fee which is completely undesirable method. there is no way of paying fee online. Only two counters are created for fee payment, one for girls and one for boys.

There is no such thing like entrance exam for Bcom. However, amrks in class 12 matter the most. I chose this college because this amongst the most reputed college in the area, also the results are also great.

Course syllabi are decided by Punjab University. The syllabus is quite heavy and subjects like accountancy and taxation have to be completed with full pace by students. The good thing is that university is introducing some contemporary subjects in the curriculum. However, it would still be better if the curriculum is reduced a bit.

There is no such thing like internship available in the college for our course at least. well, personally i think that no college in our state provides internship to Bcom students, and the curriculum also doesn't mention any provision for internship.

When I entered the college i expected that students will be provided placements. I had heard that past batches have been provided placements, but there was no such talks in our batch. My current status is that I have not got any job opportunity through my college.

The events of college are very good. The flagship event is the talent search event which is conducted every year. It includes a flurry of competitions which are fun to participate and watch. College also organises corporate quiz, history fest, prize distribution, annual havan and a lot of seminars.

Fee structure is quite feasible for middle class families. The annual fees is around 25k which is not sky high i guess. College also provides scholarships, books and other kind of help which helps the needy students. The fee structure also depends on the guidelines by the university.

I did not take loan so i dont have even a clue about that. These are the types of scholarships that college offers:- Student aid fund ( for high scoring students) Shashi ahuja Scholarship. There are some university run and state run scholarships also. college authorities are very helpful in applying for those.

Campus life is okay. There are separate libraries, canteens and common rooms for girls and boys. There are many restrictions like boys and girls can not sit together, you can not sit in class when teacher is not there etc Infrastructure is very old school, but a low annual fees justifies it.

I didn't opt for hostel so I cant tell much details about that. the college has a food plaza which offers very cheap and tasty food. However, you won't find any modern dishes in the mess food. Also there is a juice shop in the college which offers high quality juices with brilliant tastes ( i personally love it)

Seniors are helpful. But I have not seen any notable alumni coming in the college and guiding students. however, a good and interesting thing is that most of the teachers are actually alumni of this college itself.

Exam structure is decided by Punjab University. I would personally say that exam structure is very old school and need s a complete overhaul. Final exams have a sky high weightage of 80% in total score of candidate. And by studying only 60% of the syllabus (with strategy), a student can score good in exams.

Admission process starts by filling and submiting the form. date of counseling is mentioned on the prospectus. On the date of counseling, student has to come along with all the certificates. Counseling is performed in the college auditorium. Students first should check their rank on the merit list pasted on board outside the auditorium. The admission authorities call students by name, studnet has to verify his certificates there. There is no interview type of thing. A weightage score is alloted to candidate on the basis of stream. I has secured 88% in class 12 and was given a weightage score of 16, thus resulting in total score of 104. I was placed on 27th rank in merit list.

The permanent faculty of the college is amazing. The teacher have vast experience and all of them have studied from top institutes. All the classes are really enjoyable as teachers have got a lot alternate methods of teaching as well. We were given presentations and projects which were the best part. However, I would personally say that the new or less experienced teachers do not match the brilliance of permanent faculties, but this is completely natural and obvious. All in all faculty is the best of college.
