Remarks
The admission process for Kristu Jayanti college autonomous started early on, way back in April 2022. We had to fill in an application form, which contains personal details, income status, educational details, etc. One could apply for admission via the college website and apply for the courses they wish. The form was to be filled through the website, which would take us to an external link where we have to provide the details after paying an admission fee. After that, we were sent a link for an online interview conducted by the HOD of the management department and we had to answer a few questions. It took about 10 mins. After we were selected for the college, we had to pay 60% of our yearly fees along with an admission fee(I don't clearly remember the amount) to the college, after which our seats were confirmed. There were scholarships and reservation benefits available to students of certain backgrounds as well.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose BBA for my graduation because I am keenly interested in management and aspire to start my own business shortly. Also, I have received several positive recommendations for doing BBA from Kristu Jayanti college from my family and friends. The overall curriculum for BBA is very good. Faculty members are all well-skilled and well-versed in their subject matter. They are quite open and friendly with the students and conduct various icebreaking and engaging sessions with the students to increase their knowledge about the subject. There are also enough professors for the entire management department and one class consisted of 70-80 students. The evaluation was broken into 3 parts: Midterm I exam, Midterm II exam, and end sem exam. Apart from written exams, there were practicals, seminars, and fun activities as well. The examination was quite simple as most of the questions were pretty direct and it was spaced pretty well with enough study breaks in between.
Placement Experience
Although I am a first-year student, campus placements at KJC are pretty good. Teachers and the faculty start preparing the students from the first year to be eligible and obtain campus placements. Students are eligible for campus placements after their III/IV semester. One has to score above 90% in their semester exams, clear all backlogs and must have more than 90% attendance to be eligible for campus placements. Various companies that come for placements are Morgan Stanley, KPMG, EY, Grant Thornton, Asian Paints, Byjus, Federal bank, Accenture, Coca-Cola, Johnson, and Johnson, Mckinsey & Co, South Indian bank, Google, Cognizant, etc. Packages range from 2 LPA - 5 LPA. More than 20% of students out of eligible students often get placed for a job. I too aspire to take part in the campus placements that will happen for me in the year 2024, and after the degree, I plan to do some internships to gain experience and travel abroad to do my MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since I took BBA for my graduation, yearly fees for the first year are 95000/-. But apart from that, certain additional fees were also taken such as library fees, eligibility fees, admission fees, etc. Also, NRI students and foreign students had to pay an additional amount as well for their admission. The cost to study is pretty low, as the college offered many freebies to study and the college is surrounded by various businesses, restaurants, etc., that are convenient for the students. Hostels, PGs, and apartments are available for students at reasonable rates. There are also various scholarships and financial assistance programs available for the students offered by the college and the state of Karnataka as well.
Campus Life
Life in KJC is pretty wild and entertaining. There are many students from different cultural and geographical backgrounds and one gets to interact with all of them pretty easily. The first two weeks of classes will consist of life skills and group activities, enabling students to be comfortable with their classrooms. There are various events, workshops, and fests that happen throughout the year. Ethnic day and Samyagdarshan, the Annual day, are two of the most fun and important occasions at the college. There are various amenities like libraries, sports cells, entrepreneur development cells, woman's empowerment cells, etc. The college is also at the top in various extracurricular and sports activities, throughout Bangalore. One can easily mingle and interact with the students and the faculty. The college also has a strict anti-ragging policy, so new students can feel comfortable with the seniors and the college.
