Remarks

The college management is quite supportive and in general it's difficult to find a bad remark for this college but still if one has to point one the infrastructure of the hospital is a bit lacking as per the standard recommendations.

Entrance Preview

I took AIPMT 2009 to get admission in the college. My rank was 2100 in AIPMT 2009. To become a doctor was my passion since childhood hence I opted for this field after my class 12 examinations.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was nice in the college as the whole MBBS course was structured and planned as per the MCI guidelines and the college was able to follow it in a very disciplined manner. Completing the course in due time and the regular assessments and the examinations was a routine here.

Internships Opportunities

The college provides internship for MBBS students in its own hospital. The stipend is quite handsome as compared to other colleges. An intern here gets stipend of 19000-20000 currently. The work load and experience are quite ample and there's lot of opportunity to learn basic surgical techniques also.

Placement Experience

4.5

Medical colleges do not offer placements and mostly the students after passing out prepare for the post graduate entrance examinations and some of them take up jobs also. Getting a job after MBBS is very easy and most of the doctors after MBBS earn 70000-100000 working in the private hospitals and around 70000 while. Working in the government sector.

College Events

4.5

The college celebrates the freshers day for the new batch every year and then there are the celebrationsof Saraswati pooja. The college's fest name is plasma and is held annually in and around the months of August. All the students are free to participate in these events and enjoy the events. Plasma is the biggest event of the college and usually continues for 4 days with lots of band performing every night including college bands.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is not at all high. Each semester the fees was 4500 for the 9 semesters and thus one completes the entities MBBS course in a total fees of 40500. The hostel fees was 12 rupees per month including electricity. The examination fees used to be 1000 rupees each year for the professional examinations and the fees were all to be paid in cash mode only.

Fees and Financial Aid

As far as scholarships are concerned most of the minority students used to get the scholarships from the West Bengal government which covered their fees and the book grants. There were no such facilities for the general candidate students and for those students who came from other states.

Campus Life

4

A male to female ratio of 60:40 is usually seen in most of the batches. Hostel parties were quite frequently organised and there were no restrictions for such events. Students were from all the regions of the country with many different languages but in the college all mostly spoke Hindi or Bangla. There were no discrimination among students and the college has a healthy environment for learning and general growth. Politics is gaining entry in the college but is mostly ignored by the students as MBBS being a professional course and mostly students are busy studying. The students here mostly belong to the middle class and lower middle class society as this being a government medical college and this economic strata people usually don't study in private medical colleges.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel was awesome here. during the first year we used to get a triple seater room and then in the second year we got two seater rooms and in the final year and internship we were allotted single rooms. The rooms were quite spacious with 24 hours power backup and constant water supply. The college has ample number of hostels and several rooms so all the students get accommodation here. The monthly rent was only 12 rupees a month for all the facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors are very helpful in this college. They start to guide you from the first day of your college. They are quite interested in teaching the tough subjects and even help in deciding the most important topics for the exams as the MBBS syllabus is huge. They used to come to wish us a day before the exams and used to motivate us during the exams.

Exam Structure

The exam structure was a bit of chilled out. There were semester wise exams and few departments also held regular assessments by class tests. The exam was divided in theory and practical parts. First the theory exams used to take place and then we had the practical exams. The practical exams were a bit cool as the faculty were quite supportive and helpful

Admission

Back those days the form used to be available at the Canara bank branches. Nowadays it's available online. The notification usually is in the months of February-March. I cleared the AIPMT exam in the year 2009 to get admission in this college. My rank was 2100 and I opted for this college in the counselling held in Delhi. Thereafter I had to report to the college within a stipulated time of 15 days after the allotment of seat in the counselling. The admission process required the deposition of fees for the first semester and a caution deposit and a security deposit.

Faculty

4

The faculty here were at par in the filed of teaching and guidance. Most of the faculty were interested in teaching and used to complete their syllabus timely. Most of the faculty also used nice PowerPoint presentations for a more detailed and lucid understanding of the topics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
