Remarks

Well, it depends entirely on you. You can make the most of your time at MNNIT. But if you are uninterested, like most of the students there, your life at the college is bound to be boring. It applies for all the colleges actually. They do offer a lot, but you must make the most of the opportunities. There are fests(one of the most exciting features of the college) plays, competitions. You name it.We have it. And you can organise any event of your choice if it isn't already included in the extra curricular activities.

Entrance Preview

I gave JEE MAIN in 2014, i scored 213 marks in the exam and 90.4% in CBSE board. I opted for civil engineering in this college as i was interested in mechanical or civil and i talked to seniors about environment of the college and stuff related to these branches, read articles on quora and wholly got a positive feedback.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum is divided uniformly over the years, 3rd year being relatively more hectic. There is a lot of active research that keeps on going in our branch.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our college provide internships. In our branch, last year only two companies came to hire pre-final year student for internships. 1. L&T- 4000 Rs per month 2 Saint Gobains- 20,000 per month

Placement Experience

4

Placements in civil engineering are not that good. The avg CTC being 5.92 lac and around 67 percentage placement of batch 2017. The companies hiring are- L&T, Saint gobains, and other consultancies. Although there is a good environment in preparing for competition like GATE and IES. There are around 10-15 students that crack GATE and IES under AIR-100 including present and pass-outs every year.

College Events

4

1.Technical fest- AVISHKAR- 2. Cultural fest- CULRAV 3. Entrepreneurship Summit-

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's feasible. I don't know about the latest fees structure. It keeps on hiking around 10-15 % every year.

Fees and Financial Aid

If you're in top 10% of your branch ( JEE Mains Rank for 1st years and CPI for others), you will receive an annual scholarship of 3000/- . You will have to fill a form for that. Moreover, there are several scholarship programs offered by our college. These include 'below 1 lakh income', 'single girl child', 'SC/ST/OBC Scholarship', 'Board Topper Scheme'. There is a lot of scholarship opportunities like PD Tondon scholarship, Jlal scholarship.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is great. It's place you can prove yourself. One can start up a club or organise events. Creativity is appreciated in co-circular activities. The college campus isn't big. But because it's a small campus, one interacts more and gets to know a lot students. College really appreciates you if you are involved in sports or any extra- curricular. There are different clubs which ensures this kind of stability to it like GNOSIS-quizzing club, ROBOTICS club, ALCHEMY, ROTARACT etc My college has one e-grievance cell where students can report for any of their problem regarding studies, ranging, faculty etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel rooms are old but are in condition to live properly. One can use electrical appliances like cooler, blower, heater, iron easily for free. Although it is not allowed officially but none gives a check. For first years, the room has to be shared among three students, among 2 for 2nd and 3rd year students and final yearites get a single room accommodation. Almost 95-98% students live in hostel. Mess is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is really good which consist of a non repeating diet with tea/milk throughout the week. Lunch and dinner are not upto mark, but still eatable.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very strong here. There are fb pages running having over 5000+ alumni added over it. They help in finding interns and training if they can. I personally know such alumni which helped couple of my friends to do so.

Exam Structure

There is one mid sem and end sem examination in each semester. There are quizzes, surprise tests in between in usually each subject and practical, that wholly depends on professor taking it. Exams and labs are not that frequent in first two years. But in 3rd year, they were really tedious.

Admission

Admission in 2014 were done by 60-40 percentage rule which is not the case now. I got 213 marks in JEE MAINS and 90.4% in CBSE boards. My all India rank was around 14k. I didn't get mechanical and civil in MNNIT ALLAHABAD in the normal rounds that occurred during counselling process. I got NIT RAIPUR civil, NIT JALANDHAR civil etc. in initial rounds. Firstly we have to lock our choices in the csab website according to college and branch preference. After getting the results of round 1, one has to report at nearby registration centre and he is asked to fix or free the college/branch choice that he got according to his rank, and this process continues to next rounds until one locks his/her choice. In between rounds one can change the order of preferences of college that he has filled. I got civil engineering of MNNIT ALLAHABAD in spot round. In spot round one has to release his choice he got in the last round and in case if he didnt get any college/branch in spot round of his choice, he don't have choice to opt for what he got in the last round. It's bit risky but one can take a chance if he has proper backup of other colleges.

Faculty

3.5

As far as i know, faculty of my college specifically in my branch is highly qualified. The professors are keenly interested in the good will of students. Civil engineering department has some big names likes Prof. S.K. Duggal, Dr. R.P.Tiwari etc. which genuinely works through out the day with the students solving their problems. All the important subjects that civil engineering basically comprises of are taught by professors. Subjects that are relatively easier or are of less use may be taught by associate professors that too have vast knowledge.

I choose this course because I want to be a software developer. The faculty are very kind and helpful. Almost every faculty member has completed there post-graduation from various established colleges. The examination scheme is a little bit slow here. Students can pass their semester exams if they are paying at least 45 per cent of their concentration.
