Remarks
The afmission to MBBS course occurs on the basis of marks scored in NEET UG examination. To be eligible for admission a candidate must be 12th passed with biology as a subject, qualified in NEET UG and of minimum 17 years of age on 1st december of the year of admission. The college has a total of 250 seats of which 85% are reserved for state quota and rest 15 percent come under all india quota. The reservation benefits apply according to the state norms.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose MBBS as my preferred course as it was always my passion to help treat people and improve their lives. The MBBS course curriculum strictly adheres to NMC norms and is a mix of lectures and clinical teaching.The faculty are postgraduates and superspecialists with a vast amount of experience. The student faculty ratio varies from department to department but its fairly good. The teaching methods used are lectures which mostly use power point presentations, clinical teachings on patients in wards, demonstrations, skill labs, specimen muesuems, etc. There are a total of 4 professsional exams.They are fairly difficult to pass but if you have attended classes seriously then you would pass.The schedule of exams and they stick to the schedule with no delays.
Internships Opportunities
The college has a compulsory internship of 12 months only after which we recieve the degree.During internship we are posted in the departmnets of coomunity medicine, general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, pediatrics and some other derpatments depending on our choices. We also recieve a meagre stipend of 12000 rs per month during internahips and also need to pay 1500rs as hostel rent per month.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of MBBS in KGMU is almost minimal. The tution fees is only 18000 for obc category students and 27000 for general category. You pay the fees at which you joined all the five years with no hikes applicable.The mess charges are 55rs per meal excluding lunch.You can also get a scholadahip from UP government scholarship programme.The college has also recently started providing financial support to meritorious students from each batch and you can also avail a job on campus for 2 month with a stipend of 500rs per hr.
Campus Life
The campus is simply astonishing with awadhi architechture however its a little small area wise. The annual fest is named Rhapsody amd occurs in the month of october.The college has a central library which is open from 9 am to 10 pm on all days except sunday and has a vast collection of books, magazines and journals. The classrooms are located in Kalam Centre and are fully air conditioned with comfortable chairs and tables. They also have projectors with a whiteboard and blackboards. The college has a large ground called SP ground. It has a cricket pitch, football field, table tennis table, lawn tennis court and basketball court. Th SP hostel also has a badminton court and a gymnasium inside it. The sport week occurs every year during the month of november.The college has a literary club,research club, sports club, music club.
Hostel Facilities
Ther are three hostels CV hostel for first year, TG hostel for 2 nd year, Sp hostel for 3 rd and 4 th years. The rokms are double seated in cv and sp hostels. They have 2 beds, chairs, tables, almirahs. The rokns in TG hostel are single seated with the same facilities. All the hostel havs shared bathrooms. They also have 2 or 3 messes. They have a TV room, sports room, etc. The charges for hostels are approx 5000 yearly along with the electricity charges.
