IIFT Kolkata in a nutshell.

The course offered by IIFT is MBA in International Business. The subjects have an international approach to them. We study everything that a normal MBA curriculum includes but we also have subjects that include international perspectives on the same subjects. The exams are not that easy but if you pay attention in class, you will get good grades. Grading is relative. The faculty is well qualified and do their best in teaching us.

Various Marquee companies such as JPMC, Microsoft, Loreal, Coca-Cola, Samsung, and Godrej were among the recruiters. Roles in domains such as strategy, finance, marketing, supply chain, product management and trade were offered.

The institute has a placement committee that is student-run. We have summer as well as final placements. The average package for the summer placements of the 2022-24 batch was 2.5 lacs. The final placements stats for the batch of 21-23 is yet to come.

The total fee is 1960000 for the 2-year MBA program. Fees are paid trimester wise and there is a waiver of 50% for SC/ST students. There is a scholarship for students who need it. You need to fill in the specific criteria in order to get the scholarship.

The flagship event of IIFT Kolkata is Vivaan. It is the annual business summit where speakers from industry, as well as government, come to share their expert opinions that they have gained in their years of experience at their respective firms. We have a library which is open 20 hours a day. We also have state-of-the-art Bloomberg terminals for students who are interested in finance and trading. There are 3 kinds of clubs, we have clubs, cells and committees. Each has different objectives and purposes. Campus Life is great, we have 3 lakes on our campus.

The boy's hostel has only one option of single rooms whereas the girl's hostel has both single and double occupancy rooms. We have a mess that serves food four times a day. The fee structure for the mess and hostel is economical. All the MBA students reside on the campus.

We had to clear the IIFT entrance exam, which was conducted by NTA. The exam pattern is the same as CAT but IIFT also includes the GK section. The GK section is scored and you need to clear the minimum cutoff for getting an interview call. The interview includes WAT and PI.

During my admission process, there was no GD. I had my extempore and PI on the same day. There was no WAT as well. The extempore topic was 'The new education policy'. I had to speak for a minute about this. The interview was based on my undergrad subjects, recent news articles, the Russia-Ukraine war, certain geopolitical events and some HR-based questions. I prepared for it by going through my undergrad subjects and reading newspaper and news articles about the recent major events of the world.
