Life at IIM-Trichy

I chose IIM Trichy because I incline toward finance, and IIM Trichy is famous for finance among all the new IIMs. the faculties here at IIM Trichy are very experienced and qualified. the majority of faculties have more than 10 years of teaching experience, and some of the faculties have already taught in old IIMs. most of the faculties here have earned their doctorate from old IIMs. The teaching pedagogy is case-based, and mostly HBS cases are discussed in classes, and principals are imparted through discussion of cases. generally, relative grading is followed however few courses have different grading.

More than 100+ companies visited the campus this year. College witnessed a good hike in both average and top salaries. The top recruiter who visited campus this year were Colgate Palmolive, Samsung, Bain & Company, McKinsey, Deloitte, Avalon consulting, GAIL, etc. 100% of students got placed during the placement process.

August is often when the summer internship process starts. companies visiting campus float EOI, which must be filled before the stipulated deadline. the CVs will be verified, and those who meet the requirements will be shortlisted for the next round. Both summer and final placement almost follow the same process. The college has seen a significant hike in both average and top placement this year.

the tuition, hostel, and mess fee are all included in the charge of 1800000. The monthly mess fee is 20000, which is included in any extras you take in a mess, and the remaining amount, if any, will be refunded at the end of 2 years. I have taken an education loan to finance my education. PGPM office consistently circulates the details of scholarship applications. There are several scholarships available based on merits, gender, or reservation.

Campus life is awesome here at IIM Trichy. For students' benefit, there are 21 student-run clubs and committees. Top leaders are invited every year to the leadership conclave. the annual fest of IIM-Trichy, "Dhruva," and the business summit, "Nishtha," are generally held in January and September, respectively. The library of IIM-Trichy is the best among all the IIMs. The library here is called the learning resource center (LRC), and it contains several books in hardcover and digital versions for the students. the campus also has a sports facility. it has a cricket ground, basketball court, badminton courts, and throwball court. it has a functional gym and swimming pool. The campus also has a lake where we go to chill.

Taking the CAT is the first step in the admission process. following the exam, results are made public, and anyone who meets the criteria will receive mail. A person must have a CGPA of at least 50%. the application process is also open for a student who is enrolled in their last year of a bachelor's degree. The min CAT score for all the IIMs is released every year. For IIM Trichy, the criteria last year was 70 percentile in each section and an aggregate of 92 percentile. All the students who meet the criteria will get shortlisting mail and will be asked to fill in their details on the portal. the PI slots will be allotted, and based on PI and all other criteria, the final composite score will be calculated, and based on the composite score cut-off admission will be offered.

I did not have any Group discussions during my admission process, but I had a Personal interview. There will be one PI for all the IIM under the CAP process. The interview was mainly about my work-ex and my passion. I did not join any GDPI classes. After the PI, all the IIMs under the CAP process will calculate a composite score of all the students based on academics, CAT Score, PI, work-ex, etc. Every IIM has a different weightage for all the criteria. Some give more weightage to the CAT score, whereas some give more weightage to PI; it depends on college admission criteria. Based on the composite score, the cut-off is decided, and candidates who clear the cut-off are offered admission. The shortlisted candidates are informed through mail.
