Entrance Preview
Appeared for Ph.D admissions and gone through Department written test and got shortlisted. Then cleared the Department interview.
Course Curriculum Overview
Excellent curriculum and faculty. Faculty having experience in related fields teach respective subjects. Therefore, the student get benefit from the experienced faculty.
Internships Opportunities
As there is no mandatory internship for PhDs, I can not judge in this aspect as I did not do internship. However, some of research scholars got opportunity to go abroad and did a part of their research work in top universities.
Placement Experience
Excellent. The placement part is very good. Students from different departments form a placement committee under the supervision of Dean, placements and every year they prepare a profile book which contains the profile of all the current year students who are going to get degrees. Then they invite all companies by sending this year book. 4-80 lacks packages were offered from various companies during 2013-2014.
College Events
There are two official technical events.1. Sastra - a national level grand technical event which attracts thousands of students from various parts of the country.2. Sarang - a national level grand cultural event which also attracts thousands of students from all over the country. Few lacks of rupees are usually announced as prizes. Along with these technical events, numerous individual technical events, conferences, symposiums, workshops are usually organized round the year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Of course it is central government institute and therefore, the fee is feasible. However, there is a debate that even IITs do not need as the major expenditure is taken care from the government side. But, compared with many other institute IITs fee structure is reasonable.
Fees and Financial Aid
The national banks available on the campus (SBI and Canara) give loans to the students. There are many banks which give loans to IIT students. Another source of fellowship is working in a project under the guidance of a professor. So, the professor pay the fellowship from the sponsored project to the students.
Campus Life
It is a healthy campus. Gym, swimming pool, physical training, different clubs like, yoga, literature, sports etc make students life exciting. Basically, the culture in the campus promotes a great flexibility and comfort to practice good rabbits and ethics. the campus is well disciplined and organized.
Hostel Facilities
Mostly the hostel rooms are single. Some times, during expansion or construction, students are given sharing (two students per single room). The hostel staying is beautiful and the campus is completely greenery. So, we can enjoy the campus and it is pollu
Alumni/Alumna
IT is common to hear invited talks from senior students and alumni members who are now playing important roles in many organizations. Also, there are many alumni members who support the current students for their travel, projects, fellowships.
Exam Structure
Very nice. Not too much or not too light. I appreciate the evaluation pattern of IIT Madras. Each faculty approaches as per his own evaluations such as term paper, assignment, usual quizes, seminar and end semester exams.
