NIT Raipur - From my eye

NIT Raipur provides courses like B.Tech, M.Tech, and MCA. Various branches included in B.Tech Courses are CSE, IT, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Electronics, Mining, Metallurgy, Bio-Tech, etc. Having an interest in coding and development I opted for the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY branch. Roughly there are around 100 students in each class but the faculty members are quite friendly and they provide proper guidance for both studies and placement-oriented reasons. NIT Raipur has both black-board and smart-board teaching options while there are practical labs, workshops, a library, and sports facilities for the enhancement and development of personality skills. There are 8 semesters in the B.Tech course. In each semester there is a mid-sem exam and an end-sem exam with lots of assignments, projects, and 75% attendance.

First of all, I got an internship at ADOBE for 10 months with a 1 lakh stipend per month. Multiple companies like ADOBE, Microsoft, Amazon, Visa, Deutsche bank, Accenture, intuit, optum, and oracle comes for internship role. Basically, they come for SDE, development, and data analyst roles.

NIT Raipur provides wonderful placement and internship opportunities for its students. There are major placements for CSE and IT stream students. Companies like ADOBE, AMAZON, VISA, Deutsche Bank, OPTUM, ORACLE, Arcesium, DE-Shaw, Deolite, TCS, Accenture, and many others visit for both internship and placement opportunities. There is around 95% placement from CSE, IT, and Electronics streams having the highest package of around 55 lakhs and an average of around 18 lakhs. While the other branches also contribute well and stand with an average package of around 10 lakhs.

For the general/ OBC category the annual fees for the B.Tech course are around Rs 134000 for the general category and annual income above 5 lakhs, Rs 51000 for annual income between 1-5 lakhs, and Rs 9000 for annual income less than 1 lakh. For SC/ST category - the annual category is Rs 9000. Apart from this, there are various government exams to avail of scholarships.

Eclectika - The Annual fest of NIT Raipur is held in the month of February. The codeutsava is the tech fest, Samar is the annual sports curriculam, avavartan -the science fest. There are various clubs in NIT Raipur named Nrityam - The Dance Club, Technocracy - The robotix club, Raga - The musical Club, Shaurya - Sports Club TCP - Coding Club, TEDx. NIT Raipur also has the facility of Library, GYM, Practical Labs, Workshop, etc.

NIT Raipur has a limited hostel facility and it provides a hostel to students on a merit basis. Generally, overall around 25 students in a branch of 100 get the hostel. The meal quality is just okay in Hostel's mess. around 45000 is the annual charge for the mess and rental fee of the hostel. The Mess is off on Sunday eve and night. If a student is unable to get a hostel the areas like Kota, smta colony, DDU nagar, and Gol chowk has rental room and PG facilities.

The process for getting admission to the National Institute of Technology is via the entrance exam of JEE Mains and JEE Advance. Basic eligibility is that a student must have a science background with mathematics in his secondary school education. The application form for JEE mains is available on its official website between December to January and the application fee varies from Rs 500 to Rs 1000. The cutoff varies for the different categories but the opening rank is around 8000 for CSE and the closing rank may go up to 45000-50000 for less demanding branches. Being a Government College, the reservation categories are available here. 75% of the total seats are reserved for Home state students and the rest 25% are for other state students. Apart from this, there are reservations for OBC/ SC/ ST/ PH/ Girls/DASA also.
