What Students Say
Likes
- Faculty is helpful and they are well qualified.
- Infrastructure of the college is good.
- Campus life at JIIT is one of the best things you could ever enjoy.
Dislikes
- Course curriculum is a little on the downside as it not focuses on the placements for the branches like ECE, Biotech
- Exams held thrice a semester is another thing which actually gets you engaged in the exams only i.e. you are not able to do anything other than the semester exams.
- Quality of food could be a reason to dislike the mess food sometimes.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is not up to the mark from the placement point of view but if someone wants to excel or do master's then it is good. I wanted CSE but unfortunately got ECE. Faculty to student ratio is about 35:1 Faculties are well qualified to teach and practice tutorials. There are 3 exams in a semester and they are of easy to moderate level of difficulty.
Internships Opportunities
Convegenius Digital hires for the role of Quant Intern with a stipend of around 30K/month. VinSol hires for the role of Software Intern with a stipend of around 20K/month. Some other start ups also hire for the roles of Software and data analyst such as Fundwave. Projects offered are generally based on the development i.e. either web or app so the point is you need to be thorough with your skillset.
Placement Experience
Placements start from the 7th semester and go till the 8th semester. Many companies visit the campus for placements, some of the key recruiters include Reliance Jio, Optum, Oracle, Morgan Stanley, Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Tower Research Capital, GreyB Research, Procol, Futurefirst, Inframarket, Biz2Credit, etc. 220+ companies visited the campus in the year 2022 and more than 1400 offers were made. The highest package was 1.15Cr by Amazon EMEA and the average package was 11.01LPA. Generally these companies come for Software profiles or Data analysts. But there are other companies as well which come for the ECE and Business An, analyst domains. Above 99% of placements were recorded in the year 2022. My plan as of now is to work in the corporate sector and if it goes well then will look for other options as well.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure comprises tuition fees, development fees, and hostel fees. Every year the college has around a 10% hike in fees. A total B.Tech of 4 years would cost around 16Lacs. There are no scholarships as such but yes there is financial aid provided to lower strata. Placement drives start from the 7th sem and go on till the end of the 8th sem. So, generally, there are ample opportunities for CSE students.
Campus Life
There are separate fests held at both campuses of JIIT. Converge being the biggest fest of Sector-128 is organized around the month of November. At sector 62 Impressions is organized which is again a big party held annually. The college has a huge library on two floors containing books in every section. Classrooms are well equipped with AC and smart class. Sports at Sector 62 are not up to the mark but yes there are good opportunities at Sector 128. There are a lot of clubs and societies at the college which are really helpful for personal development. For eg. Knuth (Programming Hub), Nrityang (Dance), Surkhaab (Bhangra), Crescendo (Music), MuCR (Electronics), etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are really good. There are double-sharing hostels for all the students. The hostel has a gymnasium on two floors and a playing area. Each room has AC, a study table, and a wardrobe. The food quality is good at the mess. The registration process for the hostel is good you just need to get the hostel ID from the Admin department and that's it. The hostel charges are very high. So, if one wants to stay outside he/she can look for apartments nearby Shipra Suncity, Gyan Khand-2, Indrapuram.
Admission
One needs to pass 12th with Non-medical stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) to be eligible for admission at JIIT, apart from this candidate should have given JEE-Mains exam. To apply for the admission at JIIT, all information is available at the official website of JIIT i.e. www.jiit.ac.in Application fees were around Rs.1500 and dates to remember are just after the JEE Mains exam i.e. around July-August the application forms are out and one can enroll for the same from there. Admission was based on the JEE-Mains percentile and at my time the cut-off for CSE was around 95% and that too for the Sector-62 campus. The admission process is fair which is obviously based on JEE Mains percentile. Spot rounds are based on the 12th percentage as well.
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
I was unable to enroll in the CSE program at this college, and one of the primary reasons was distance.
