Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The reason for choosing this course is the placement of this college which is amongst the best. There is a good ratio of 1:40 between faculty and students. The course curriculum is of 4 years including 2 sem per year. In each semester, there are two exams- mid-semester (of 30 marks)and end-semester,(of 50 marks)and some internal assessments(20 marks) like class tests and assignments. The passing percentage is 97%, merely some students fail term exams. After the recruitment of new teachers, teaching has improved a lot but the recruitment process still needs some checks because some of the faculties are so poor in their communication skills and teaching methods.

Internships Opportunities

4

A good number of internship offers are offered here. Last year 200+ students got internship in different companies like Amazon, Tata, Microsoft, Flipkart, Oracle, Trident etc. Stipends offers vary from 20k to 1.5 lakh. Students must have a proper knowledge of DSA, web/app development, and good coding skills to crack internships in better companies.

Placement Experience

5

If you are only coming here for placement purpose, then you are at one of the best places for it. Students are getting placement opportunities from 7th sem as companies starts to visit during the period. 230+ companies visited the campus last year which includes Amazon, Atlassian, Flipkart, Oracle, Microsoft, Tata, Accenture etc. The highest package stands at 73 lakhs per annum last year whereas the average package was 14.2 lakhs. The placement percentage was 97% which is amongst the top 5 NITs. Training and placement cell ensures that everyone gets a decent placement. After getting the degree, I wanna join as a software engineer in a reputate company.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is slightly on the higher side if you compare other NITs. Here for one semester, you have to pay 108000 including all things. There is a hike of 5000 in fees this year. The fee includes 62500 as tuition fee and the rest includes the hostel fee, bus, library, water, electricity, etc. There is a provision for financially weak students. Students having income between 1 and 5 lakhs per annum have to pay 1/3 of the tuition fee and those who have less than 1 lakh per annum enjoy full tuition fee remission. Scholarships are also guaranteed under different government schemes like E-Kalyan. On campus, there are many jobs available like an assistant professor, lab assistant, machine operator, researcher, etc.

Campus Life

4

Campus Life at NIT Jsr is one of the best. The campus size is 350 acres occupied with an academic building, hostels, library, playground, etc. The academic building includes classrooms fully furnished with smartboards and LAN facilities. In the first year, students start exploring things in different domains like core, noncore, analytics, sports activities, etc. Sports fest URJA is conducted between Aug-Nov and includes all types of sports and then a cultural fest CULFEST is organized between Nov-Feb. A variety of books are available in the library and also some researches by professors are available. There are clubs available for every talent you have, rather it is singing, dancing, making cars, writing poems, etc. There are many clubs run by students like Drift for electric vehicles, LDS for literature, etc.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostels are the major attraction of this college. The campus comprises of 13 hostels and one hostel is under construction. There is a different hostel and a separate mess for each year hostels. The best thing is you are getting single rooms from second year only. You have to fill a form and submit a copy of aadhar card to the warden. The room includes one bed, one study table, fan, light, almirah and a LAN port for internet facilities. Mess provides quality food four times in a day with different varieties. There is availability of both veg and non veg food, though the quality of non veg food is better.

Admission

The admission is completely based on the rank secured in JEE Mains examination. Anyone who has qualified for the Jee mains exam can apply through JOSSA counseling, and then the candidates are shortlisted by 6 rounds of counseling based on their ranks. They have to pay 35k as a JOSSA fee and then after a college selects the candidate they have to pay 46k as a partial admission fee. After the 6 rounds, they have to register through the NIT admission website and take out the registration receipt.

From 7th sem onwards students are able to face placements. Comapnies such as ZS, Deloite AB in bev microsoft visa comes here and normally takes 1-3 students. The highest package may vary from 40-50 lakhs and average is 4-5 lakhs. Internships opportunities are quite low here. In chemical enginnering only till now out of 120 students 20-30 got placed including out of campus palcements. I am hoping to do mba after pursuing the degree as there is less comapny visit for core branches.
