Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I am interested in research, and Kanpur has the best research culture. There is an excellent faculty-to-student ratio. There is 500 faculty member on 8000 students. All the faculties are Ph.D.-level qualified. There are some faculty which are not good at teaching, but there are lots of faculty which are very good at teaching. For the exam, it is not easy. You have to take classes regularly and complete assignments on time to at least pass.
Placement Experience
You can sit for campus placements in your 7th semester. Many big tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and adobe come for placements at IIT Kanpur every year. In placements season 2022-23, more than 250 companies visited the campus, and 1128 offers were made. The highest package of this season was 4.3 crore, and 15 LPA was the average package. Around 85% of students got placed this year. After getting my degree; I am planning to do MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of undergraduate courses at IIT Kanpur are relatively more affordable than many of the institutions in India. The total costs for the four years are around 11 to 12 lakhs. There are financial relieves for sc/st candidates, and for those whose parental income is less than 1 lakh is a 100% fee waiver of tuition fees and a 66% fee waiver for candidates whose parental income is less than 5 lakh.
Campus Life
Annual fests - Here are the name of the fests in IIT Kanpur - ANTARAGNI (Cultural fest), UDGOSH (sports fest), and TECHKRITI (tech fest). Antaragni is conducted in the month of march, Techkriti is shown in the month of march or maybe April, and Udgosh is completed in October. IIT Kanpur has one of the most extensive libraries in India, called P.K.kelkar library. Here are 223972+ books and 16000+ E-journals. IIT Kanpur has the best classrooms. They are fully furnished, temperature controlled, and with internet facility. Here is a compulsory course in IITK called CPA (compulsory physical activity) for first-year students. Students have to choose one of the available physical activities. There is a student body called the student's gymkhana. Every clubs, society, and councils are in under that committee. There are many websites for students run by students like every fest has its websites.
Hostel Facilities
Facilities provided in the room - one almirah, one fan, one chair, one table, and a bed with an internet facility. Food in a mess is good. They provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. one glass of milk or two eggs and spouts, and one of the dishes they provide in breakfast. For lunch and dinner, they provide daal, chawal, roti, salad, curd, and one sabzi. In IITK, this is compulsory to take hostels of IIT Kanpur. You can only live on campus. You have allotted rooms when you are admission to IITK, and you have to live there only.
Admission
All IITs give admission based on jee advanced examination. To take admission to IIT Kanpur, you must qualify to jee advanced with around 6k general rank. Jee advanced is conducted every year in May. You can apply for that on the official site of JEE Advanced. You have to pay about 3000 as an application fee. There is a reservation available for admission to IIT Kanpur. for sc/st candidates; there are 22.5% seats for obc-NCL candidates, 27%, and 10% for EWS candidates. The admission process is so smooth.
