NMIMS Mumbai, Mba Banking
Reviewed on Nov 22, 2015(Enrolled 2011)

Remarks

Management of MBA Banking was average honestly, though it is my very personal opinion always, since MBA core was the main focus course, this problem would remain I also heard that MBA Banking was being closed, not sure though.

Entrance Preview

I took CAT, NMAT, SNAP, XAT. The best college I could get into was NMIMS, Mumbai i got waitlisted for MBA core and got admission into MBA capital markets as well as MBA Banking. I chose MBA Banking.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

MBA Banking and MBA Capital Markets both are heavily finance focused courses. I chose MBA Banking since I was planning to work in Financial Risk Management for banks area. Curriculum I would say is mix of good courses as well as very theoretical and not so useful courses good courses such as Strategic Finance, Trade finance and not so useful ones such as Bank Policy and Security, etc but one thing for sure, you wont feel a comprehensive MBA, because you do not have much of other areas such as marketing, HR, etc. Even in finance, it is heavily focussed in banking only, but you would miss areas such as Venture Capital, etc.

Internships Opportunities

I got internship by myself applied online to several companies anyways, internships for NM Banking are not from too many companies and mostly from PSU Banks.

Placement Experience

2

Placements are okay types on average, our Banking batch got ctc around 7.5 8 lakhs highest was 16 lakhs while lowest was 5 lakhs most of them were financial companies, since psu banks were not allowed to take placements into private colleges.

College Events

3.5

So many events happened alumni guest lectures, yearly 2 day fest where several eminent speakers present, several competitions. They have several cells such as Finonmenon Finance cell, alumni cell, placement cell, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Little expensive I paid 9.26 lakhs for tution fees for 2 years, but I heard it is now increased to 12+ lakhs i did not stay in the hostel since hostel is expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

I availed SBI Scholar educational loan and later cleared it they were fine to give loan upto 90% of fees.

Campus Life

2.5

Pretty good several competitions were held and campus remains busy all the time some company competitions like JP Morgan's were however restricted only to MBA core.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel facilites are okay mess food is decent but equally costly as outside hostel is expensive at 1.5 lakhs and food additional we took a flat and 5 of us used to stay there.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is good and helpful, esp at times of placements every year, NM Banking alumni meet is also held alumni meet for all MBA batch is also held in every city.

Exam Structure

6 subjects per trimester, 3 trimesters per year. each trimester 1 mid term exam and 1 final exam for each subject.

Faculty

2.5

Faculty of college is in general pretty good but, visiting faculty for banking courses was a mix of very good and not so good professors especially those from PSU Banks were not so great.

Placement Experience:

During my time the first company that visited our organization was Naukri.com, and feel proud to say that i got placed in the same organization. I am very happy with my placement. But talking about my peers. Number of companies who visited to our institute was compared to low as per our expectations. Majority of the companies who visited the institute were sales based organizations. Very less companies for finance and HR field. This made a difficult call for students.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenerio at our caollege can be described as average overall. Most recruiting company belong to the banking and supply chain sectors. Marketing students generally have better placement opportunities, while finance and HR students do get job, though the package are not very high. Buswiness analytics has limited scope as very few companies visit the campus for the roles in that domain.

To be honest there are placements but the placements are like no one want to be there it is just something unacceptable for the HR students . The promises the long talks are all false and they doesn't focus on students future and career rather they care for just attendance

Course Curriculum Overview:

I did choose this course as I am genuinely interested in management and if it is healthcare management that makes me excited. There is a different teaching faculty for each and every subject. The faculties are highly qualified market professionals and experts who teach in an extremely interactive and practical way. They are very supportive. There was one exam conducted per semester which included projects and written exams.

No such bad remarks though. As the college is very superior and one can take admission with complete ease as the college faculty, staff, workers are very helpful and there motive is very clear and remarkable. This college surely helps students in grooming and enhancing skill to the top. I would definitely recommend this college to the upcoming students those who are planning to do MBA in order to achieve goals and learn quality skills.
