Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is a bit outdated. I have opted for CSE(core), and in the first year, we were taught Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical, and Electrical, which are irrelevant for a computer science student. Instead of these subjects, other technical subjects could have been added such as Digital Design, Web Development, etc. I chose CSE because I love programming. Some of the faculty members are good while others are mediocre. There's not a studious environment in college. Out of 70 students, only 2-3 students are willing to study, others are for timepass. Teachers also are not concerned about students. The teaching style seems archaic. The biggest drawback is the attendance criteria of 75%, if you fail to fulfil this criterion, you get detained in internal exams. For each semester, there are two internal tests with a gap of around 1.5 months between them, and at the end of the semester, there are external semester exams. Too easy to do although no matter how well you are prepared, you will get avg marks.
Placement Experience
From the sixth semester, students get eligible for placements in various companies. Companies which usually visit the campus are Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Flipkart, etc. The highest package was around 76 lpa which was off campus placement from an AI-related startup in Bangalore, India. The average package goes around 3-4 LPA. Moreover, it is a rough figure, and it should not be taken as an ultimate result. Placement depends on the calibre of the student. The fact that college has such low avg placement is because most of the students are interested in studying and the majority of them want mediocre jobs. Around 95-97% of students get placed every year. Currently, I have no study plans after the degree. I may opt for freelancing, but it will change according to my will.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the first year, tuition fees are around 1,37,000 while from the second year onwards, it is 1,20,000. Scholarship assistance is availed under UP government scheme. On-campus jobs provide a low stipend. On avg it is around 3-4 lpa, in rare cases, it can go upto 40 lpa. Do not expect anything from on-campus placements. Focus on only off-campus.
Campus Life
Life is dull and boring here. If you are a studious student, you will hate this college. If you come here for a time to pass, then you are most welcome. The annual fest usually happens around the month of April which is known as Zealicon. There are a variety of clubs such as NCS, GDSC, etc. related to computer science, electronics, quizzes, etc. The library collection is limited. Newer editions of books are not available, older editions are there. And some of the books popular in the programming field such as Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software, are not available. Some of the classrooms are equipped with ACs, while the rest are simple. It gets too suffocating during hot summers. There is one big playground, you can call it a multi-purpose playground. Cricket, football, and volleyball, are played on this ground. No separate fields for different sports.
Admission
I took admission to JSSATE, Noida on the basis of jee main. I got around 94 percentile in jee mains and had to go through UPSEE counselling which happens around the time of JOSAA counselling. There is no individual application form for JSS, you can only apply through UPSEE counselling. First-year tuition fees are 1,37,000 and from the second year onwards it is 1,20,000. Reservation is there in JSS on the basis of category as well as for physically challenged people.
