- The hostel timings are irritating at points.
- The library book issue is upto 3pm only which doesn't makes any sense.
- The food courts are too much on pocket for a student. A cold coffee starts from rs 90.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is good. No doubt. My curiosity and excitement towards electrical gadgets made me take this course. Apart from the course, the student ratio is not so good. Like, in my batch it's 1:27. I'm the only girl which is quite shocking. The faculty is very well educated. All are PhDs and are really polite. The exam schedule consists of internal exams i.e., St - Scheduled test and Et - End Term. Assessments are also conducted in between. St weights 40 marks and Et weights 60 marks. Assessment weights 10 marks and lab evaluation are also conducted.
Internships Opportunities
A no of companies hires students here. The companies include Microsoft, Google, Accenture, Fuji, Siemens, Wipro, and many more. An internship is usually for 6 months and after you get 6 months of job training and then the company hires you. Many students just do internships as don't take a placement A project is assigned in the final year which is graded and included in your finals. The project is mentioned in your final degree. Also, you can make other projects by being in the team of any technical department. It boosts your resume.
Placement Experience
In the 6th or 7th semester, the internship program begins. The internship duration is 6 months. After it, the intern gets placed in the company. The eligibility criteria are somehow like 8+ cgpa and all subjects clear. That's it. Big companies like Fuji Electricals, Siemens, Microsoft, Wipro, etc hire students with good packages. The placement ratio is good. Not all are placed but still, the ratio is good. The average package is 12 lacks. The highest package reached is around 40 lacks in computer science. After graduation, I might go for a post-graduation. It's not final yet.
Fees and Financial Aid
The per semester fee is Rs 62000/ and the scholarship isn't guaranteed truly unless the student is too good. Usually, students take educational loans. The fee increase is about Rs 500 per semester. The scholarships are provided in between, considering excellent grades. The job or placement is a plus point here. Firstly, there is a 6-month internship. After that, you are given job training by the company and the placement scope is really good. The core branches have less strength (no of students) which makes it possible for all the candidates
Campus Life
Fest and other events are conducted frequently. Fests include DJ Nights, celebraties for promotional events, stand-up comedy and so on. Tech fest include hackathons, tech events conducted by clubs like IEEE, IEI, and so on. A central library is available on the campus. All books and resources are issued through an Id card. Apart from this, all blocks have their own library as well. The sports block is called Sportorium. The sports conducted are Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Tennis, Table tennis, Pool, Swimming and indoors like carom, etc as well. There is dancing, singing, and a lot of clubs. The dancing club is "the Bhangra regiment", happiness club is open to all. Zumba and yoga classes run in the evening for hostel students.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fee is Rs 56500/- currently per semester. The increment is done per semester. The hostel rooms are 4 seater, including a bed, study table, almirah. The mess charges are included in hostel fee and it is compulsory. The food is prepared according to the menu chart. The quality honestly is not to good. Sometimes, it's just eatable or maybe not so. There are food courts in campus, square 1, CCB, China box, etc. But they are a little expensive. Hostel allotment can be done by chalkpad (college website) or in physical as well at the time of admission. Here nearby there are no of rented apartments in Banur. The cost is around 2-3K for an individual per month (for 4 roomies). For food, there a no of tiffin services that cost Rs 2k for a month.
Admission
Candidate has to clear 12th boards with 85% or above. The eligibility criteria also include JEE Mains examination but during COVID, this wasn't considered. Application forms: The application forms can easily be filled out both online and offline. Online forms are available on the website of Chitkara University (www.chitkara.edu.in) and offline are available on the campus. The offline admission procedure is completed in Hello Future (block). The form costs Rs 1100/-. Reservation: I personally availed of no reservation benefits. Definitely, they are available and the staff explains it beautifully. Area of Improvement: The fee isn't submitted in cash. Also, NEFT takes time so should be treated patiently
