Course Curriculum Overview
I had to go for UPSC civil services exam. So this course seemed to be the most appropriate one for it. Faculty to student ratio was really great. It is not fixed. It rather depends upon the course you are pursuing. Could be anything like 30 to 600 students. Usually, 120-150 students are in a class. There are about 850 faculty members. Most of the faculty have some higher education from renowned foreign institutes. About 40% teach really nicely. 30% acceptable. Rest is just to make you fall asleep in class. Exams are held at regular intervals. Passing is not a big deal. 1 day before the exam is sufficient. However, getting a good grade is really hard.
Internships Opportunities
There are a lot of internship opportunities available here. A good number of students get PPO. It is in the the third year when you can sit for college internships. Internships help students in having a better understanding of their work profile.
Placement Experience
Placements are in the fourth year. 300+ companies make a visit here. The highest offer this time was 4Cr. 17LPA was the average package. The Institute does not officially releases the exact stats, unfortunately. I will go for UPSC civil services preparation after getting a degree
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost is really quite high. About 10.5 lacs for the whole course of 4 years. But for people with lower incomes less than 10 LPA, there are a number of fee waivers and scholarships. In recent years, a lot of fee hikes have been faced, otherwise, the fee used to be very low. I am not a beneficiary of any scholarship or stipend or any other financial assistance.
Campus Life
Rendezvous is the annual fest conducted on 9-12 March 2023. Tryst is the tech fest conducted on 6-9 March 2023. Dates vary every year. Usually, from Feb to April, these events are carried out. Our library is one of the biggest in India. You can ask them to avail a book if it's not available. Classrooms are simply world-class. They have projectors, biometric attendance and everything you can ask for. The sports facilities are really great. There is a sports complex and grounds for various sports. Most of the work here is done by students. Both the fests are organised by students.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are not that great. There is triple sharing for first year students. Rooms are non air conditioned. Meals are great. Registration is with the registration in college. Its in Hauz Khas, New Delhi locality.
Admission
You need to give an exam called Joint Entrance Exam or JEE. JEE is conducted in 2 steps- Mains and Advanced. You need to qualify both and get a good rank to get in. It follows the regular reservation criteria as stated by the Government of India. There ate 20% supernumerary seats for female candidates. An improvement I would suggest is increasing the number of seats, which will alleviate the cut-throat competition.
Other Applied Colleges
IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITR] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Mechanical Engineering)
I had to go for UPSC. Therefore, delhi seemed to be a better option.
