What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the faculties because they were really oriented towards teaching us something rather than just taking exams and completing the course.
- The social life is also good here and one can make really good friends.
- The segment pattern in semester is good because we have less exam pressure.
Dislikes
- The mess food is not upto the mark and has average quality.
- The institute is quite far from the main city so it's time consuming to go there and return.
- I didn't like the fact that students tend to form groups based on lingual difference.
Course Curriculum Overview
This course is the second best chemical engineering course in IITs after IIT Bombay. That's why I chose this course. We have a 1:2 faculty to student ratio. It's quite good actually. All the faculties are post graduate or PhD holders. The exams were like 2-3 in a semester per subject. So it was not that hectic because IIT Hyderabad has segment divisons in semester so we have exams at different times for different subjects.
Internships Opportunities
There are quite a number of internship offers every year and it's given to third year students. Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, American express, etc many companies make the offers. The roles offered are of software developer, data analyst, ML expert, etc. Stipends vary depending on your skills(30k to 1.5 lacs per month).
Placement Experience
Students can sit for placement after 7th semester. Amazon, Deloitte, American express, etc. 350 offers were made last year. 85 percent students got placed. I am planning to get an MBA because I have interest in that field so I'll try for it.
Fees and Financial Aid
Total fees per year is 3 lacs (including tution, mess, hostel, etc) and it's a bit higher that other some of the IITs but the facilities are all top notch so it's worth it. I didn't get any scholarship but there are quite a bit available for financially weaker students.
Campus Life
We have an annual fest called elan & nvision which is conducted in February. There's no as such any tech fest but we have Milan (inter hostel competitions) and Diesta (inter-departmental competitions). There are quite a number of books available at the library but it's a bit small because IIT Hyderabad Hyderabad being 2nd generation IIT is currently under construction so the new library is still in the making. Classrooms are small sized but the facilities are good. A new sports complex is being constructed and thus for now we have to play sports in a small area which is not up to the mark. There are many clubs such as Aero, robotics, ACM, etc run by the students.
Hostel Facilities
We have double sharing room in first year and after that it's a single room and we're given a cupboard, table, chair, bed, lan ports, etc. Mess food is of average quality, we can say that it's eatable but not that tasty. No registration process for hostels but just have to opt for hostels during the overall admission process. Affordability is good and nearly 5k per month. Locality is not that developed because the institute is in the outskirts of Hyderabad but can get a good PG.
Admission
No eligibility criteria as such just have to get the appropriate rank in Jee advanced. The application to this course is through the Josaa portal which is activated after Jee advanced results. I haven't taken any reservation benefits. No, the admission process is quite smooth and computerized so currently no as such change is required.
Other Applied Colleges
IIT Jodhpur - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITJ] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electrical Engineering)
Because IIT Hyderabad has a better Nirf ranking than IIT Jodhpur and also chemical engineering course of IIT Hyderabad is far better than other chemical engineering courses in other IITs
IIT Jodhpur - Indian Institute of Technology - [IITJ] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electrical Engineering)
Because IIT Hyderabad has better Nirf ranking than IIT Jodhpur and chemical engineering course of IIT Hyderabad is far better as compared to other IITs
