Overall review of bmsce

Overall BMs college of Engineering is excellent. The only concern being the curriculum and quality of teachers. Nevertheless the placements of college are excellent - and that is what matters

I took COMEDK UGET exam, which is common entrance exam for all engineering colleges in karnataka. I got 117 out of 180 and got rank of 928. But that was offline paper and was only conducted in karnataka. But it is now online exam and can be taken from any part of country. So competetion is increased.

Course curriculum is average. I would rate 7/10. The course is not updated as per latest requirements of company and industry. We need to develop necessary important skills by own. Though the course curriculum gives foundation for basics to start with. I think syllabus should be changed so that student can gain more and more knowledge.

College gives excellent opportunity for internship. Companies start coming for internship at beginning of third year.This is summer internship for duration ion of 2 months. Companies like Microsoft, Siemens, etc come for internship for students of Computer science cluster. Average stipend is 35k to 45k per month.

Placement oppurtunities are excellent. Around 150 companies visit the college every year. Companies like directi, endurance, Microsoft, goldmann sachs, etc visit the campus. Average salary ranges from 6-7 lpa(lacs per annum). College has almost 100% placements.

There are mainly fest organized in college 1)PhaseShift It is technical fest organized in month of September. This fest helps to develop technical skill other than college studies. 2)Utsav It is cultural organized in month of march. It includes all non technical activities. It goes on for 3 days. Utsav is best fest organized by BMSCE throughout karnataka. Other activities include SIG where students are taught new technologies by the student.

Fees for Comedk uget general category is around Rs1, 75,000. For karnataka student it is Rs 60000. While management quota fees is very high. It starts with fees of Rs5 lacs per annum. There are certain scholarship available which can be applied from college

There are many government as well as private scholarship available in college Scholarships are also there for SC/ST person, disabled person,etc. Private scholarship like HAL scholarships , Brahmin scholarships are also availbale

Campus life is excellent. There are many clubs in college like IEEE club, Mountaineering club, aerospace club, Rotract club,pentagram club, etc. This club provides excellent oppurtunities to students. There is no sport activity as such because there is no ground in college

Hostel facilities is good. BMS college of Engineering has 5 to 6 hostel near the college. Hostel + Mess fees is 2lacs per annum. Hostels has 2 sharing rooms for first 2 years. From third year students 1 sharing room. Food of mess is average. It is good at time of admission but gets worst after 2 months of admission

Seniors in college are very friendly and always helpful. They always guide us about the placements, studies, etc. There is strong alumni network of bmsce.

Our college has 3 internals of 40 marks. Out of these 2 best internals is selected. Now there is 2 quiz of 5 marks each. So total 20*2+5*2=50 marks. At end of the semester we have final exam which is 100 marks. It is reduced to 50 marks. Total marks is calculated Internal +final exam.

We had to give COMEDK exam, which has 3 section - physics, chemistry, maths. This exam is conducted in first or second week of may. The results got announced in last week of May. After result was announced, we had to come to bangalore for counselling where we had to choose the seats. The counselling was done in chronological order of ranks. We had to select desired seats in college. After selecting the seats, we had to pay initial amount to COMEDK. But this was offline procedure. Now it is changed to online counselling. With this we can select seats at our place and come to bangalore only for document verification

Faculty is very poor in college. They don't have proper domain knowledge in their subject. They should also update their knowledge on regular basis. They mug up the syllabus portion and teach same in class. But they are good at giving attendance, which i think is most important thing for engineering students.
