Good place to learn

College management is doing a good job for maintaining a highly disciplined institute along with good academic and placement record.

I appeared for the entrance exam held by sathyabama university, Chennai. The exam was held in first week of may 2012. The results were displayed in last week of may. The counselling was held in June 2012. And the classes started from August 2012.

The curriculum is designed well to include all the necessary subjects which give a widespread knowledge about different streams. We had chemistry, physics and engineering mathematics. The electives were present from 5th semester. The electives were specified to the core subjects which included cancer biology, marine biotechnology, neuroscience, food biotechnology, food preservation technology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, etc.

College provide paid internship in certain specific companies. The stipend depends on the type of company and their requirement.

Placement and job opportunities are very good in this university. Whole placement is managed by training and placement cell department. The companies starts to recruit from the month of September. Mass recruiters are cognizant, wipro and Infosys. The placement ratio is good.

Cultural day is organized in Feb or March every year. It is a one day event with various cultural performances and the chief guest is from a well renowned field. Two day event known as fem fest is organized immediately after cultural day . Fem fest is for girls only and it also invites various chief guest from different field. The participants are from various institutes and field . Various events are also organized by specific clubs and the conferences also witness huge number of participant.

Fee structure is reasonable. It was approximately 6 lakhs for a four year B.tech program. It is lower comparitively for other courses too. The hostel fee is 50,000 for a year. And a sum of 6000 is collected for notebooks, books and lab records. The bus transport services are free and it is highly reasonable as compared to other engineering colleges of that surrounding.

Loan facilities are given by certain banks to the students. Also the toppers get some type of fee concession on the basis of merit. Another concession is provided on the basis of economic and financial background. Certain foundations which are closely working with the institute also provide scholarships to give proper education to the required students.

Campus life includes classes and events and conferences when organized by clubs. There are various club like literary club, eco club, science club, robotics club, etc. Google has also organized many events in our institute and there are some Google ambassadors also in our university who work closely with different event. Sports related activities are also widely popular among students. The gender ration is not equal where boys outnumber girls. student diversity is observed as there are large difference in ethnicity and religion but there is no difference as such.

Hostel and mess facilities and be better but also it is manageable. Girls hostel are 5 in number and 7 boys hostels are present. Girls hostel mainly included 7 bedded facilities with 2 attached washrooms. The mess food can be slightly more better in quality and variety as there is a huge influence of South Indian style in every item. The hostel entry timings are 7 pm for girls and 8 pm for boys. Every hostel houses 2 warden and one main warden which is in charge of all the necessary queries and permissions.

We have an alumni cell which look after various alumni program. Alumni are called for mock interview process to enhance the confidence and communication skills of the students. Alumni and senior students are managed well and all the information about events including placements are also mailed to the passed out students.

Labs are conducted twice or thrice a week. Two mid semester exams were conducted and one semester exams were conducted. Lab records were corrected and lab exams were held way before the semester exams. Proper study gaps are given in between two exams for proper preparation.

Application form was available on the institute website. The admit card were provided through speed post. The quetion paper included questions from area of applied field. Counselling and interview included meeting with the Director and I was asked about my area of interest and why I want to take admission in this specific course.

All the faculties are PhD holders and have a good sense of knowledge. The study material provided are good and apt. They cover a wide range of topic. The way of teaching of certain faculties are highly appreciated. The study material can be provided either as hard copy or via soft copy through email.
