Remarks

College management is the worst. You are not heard of, your problems are not solved.

Entrance Preview

When I passed 12th, admissions were proceeded via MP-PET, thought now IIT-JEE score is considered for admissions to UIT-BU. I scored 86 marks in PET. I opted for this college for two reasons- It is a UIT of a State University, and it is situated in Urban area where you can get coaching for GATE, CAT, UPSC etc. easily.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Curriculum has not been changed for decades and is not up-to-date. Thought there are some labs, most of the labs and instruments are not present. Some labs for CS, IT and EC are present but not everything that is required. Labs for Civil and Mech. are not present, definitely not for the most important subjects of the course.

Internships Opportunities

No, not to my knowledge. No companies visited in 2017. Maybe TCS came for CS/IT but not a single student was placed.

Placement Experience

0.5

No placements and jobs are offered. None of the companies visited the campus for recruitment. Maybe TCS came for CS/IT but not a single student was placed. But you get full time to prepare for PG courses and competitive exams because of the exam structure and lower burden because of faculties.

College Events

4.5

College organised 2 events in 4 years. A cultural program was organised for Teacher Day(Maybe, I don't remember very well) in the university auditorium with all departments of the university participating in it. Freshers and Farewell party need to be organised by students themselves. Although you can take the lead and organize Techfest as well and the university will provide the funds. Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri are organized by two hostels.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee is very feasible. Mine was 40k for a year (it has increased). 5000 caution deposit is taken at the beginning of course. It is refunded in the end. The present fee is maybe 22k for a semester or 45k for a year. Scholarships are also provided to reserved candidates whose parents annual income is less.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, scholarships for reserved candidates are available(Only for those whose parent's income is less that a certain limit).

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life is great. A lot of freedom is given. You can approach to even the Registrar of the university if you have any grievance(Not that they are sorted out). Gender ratio in some branches is good (2:5) but in Civil and Mech it is very less(1:6).Some sports events and workshops are organised for students. Labs are in very bad shape. Most of the labs are absent and even those that are present does not have sufficient instruments in them. Civil has the worst condition of labs because the most important labs are not present.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Hostel is ultra expensive- 5000(Approx) Per Annum. Although the facilities are not up to the mark. There are three hostels- Jawahar Hostel, Munshi Prem Chand hostel and Sanjay Gandhi Hostel for boys and 3 hostels for girls as well. Girls' hostels are comparatively better that boys' hostel (Not that you are allowed to visit them). Girls' hostels are provided with better security arrangements. Boys' hostels are not very good. Although WIFI is an added advantage. Mess food is not very good.

Alumni/Alumna

No alumini networks. Once you pass out, you are your own man. Although you can find your seniors roaming in nearby areas.

Exam Structure

Exams are supposed to be semester based and conducted every six months. But that was never the case in my 4 years of the college. 1st sem was conducted in March 14, 2nd in July 14, 3rd in April 15, 4th in Aug 15, 5th in April 16, 6th in Nov 16, 7th in Apr 17 and 8th in Aug 17. Last sem itself was very late for admissions in PG programs. Most of the MBA colleges start in June-July and M.tech colleges start in July. So, in totality, you are free for 8-9 months before odd semester and only for 2-4 months before even semester. Still the load is less because not many projects are needed because there are not many faculties.

Admission

After appearing in the qualifying exam (IIT-JEE), you have to fill the counselling through DTE-MPonline website. After that, if you are allotted BU, then you have to come to the UIT-BU with all the relevant documents and fee for 1st Year (which changes every year). Your documents are verified in UIT and you are provided the admission letter after paying the fee.

Faculty

1.5

Civil engineering has a great shortage of faculties. Only 5-6 faculties are available for whole department and they too are not well qualified for teaching. Other branches are also short on teachers. Lab assistants are also not present. There are only a few permanent faculties, the rest are visiting.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Jiwaji is Government university which have a long heritage. But is now coming to the short end of the rope. Institute of Engineering Jiwaji is fairly newly established around 20 to 30 years or so. The faculty is not that great and is not that experienced and have less facilities. Faculty of IEJU is mostly on temporary payroll with some of the permanent faculty. You have entire leasure of time to yourself. So, thing other than couese can be pursued. Hostel facilities are good. If we come to exams Other than Pharmacy and Engineering all other course have tomoy scheduled exams with strict checking and scoring.
