"My College" where a boy becomes a guy

The overall college experience was good. The college location is ideal as its in the city also the infrastructure is the best. If you are looking for a great college life and finally a job in hand then this is the place for you. You will never forget your four years here and will get out of this college as a different confident individual.Management is also good as i have not seen any loopholes in its operation.

I gave UPSEE. I scored a rank 8227 and got Electrical Engineering in Galgotias College. Galgotias got a good image as a private college in terms of placements and faculties. I was always passionate about engineering and as i was a sharp student of physics so I opted Electrical Engineering which is an application of physics.

The course curriculum is as prescribed by the University AKTU (previously know as UPTU) which is more focused on academics. There is a prescribed pattern which students have to follow. There is no such Great scope for Research as in IITs and NITs. The college is for placements not for research.

There were no internships offered by the college itself. You have to search for that on your own. However college allow teaching assistance on a non pay basis. ie. being a senior we can teach juniors and take lectures as experienced lectures do.

If you love Computer Science and don't have a good rank to secure a position in NITs or IITs then this is the place for you.Galgotias provide a lot of opportunities to its students.All the mass recruiters of IT arrive at the campus like Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, IBM, Tech Mahindra, HCL, HP , Idea etc. .The packages offered to most of the students are in between 3-4 lakhs yearly.You must score minimum 60-65% in your btech to be eligible for these companies with no active backs. The placement of Galgotias is around 90% as most of the students gets placed those who don't have backs and fulfilled the eligibility criteria. There is also a scope to get a high package in sales companies if you got less percentage. Some students who scored less then 60% got placed for a package for 5-6 lakhs in Zycus. If you got a bad rank in UPSEE you can still go for this college by taking any branch if you are looking for placements as it will help non IT students get placed in IT companies as well. I personally got placed in two companies ie. Torrent power and Infosys being an Electrical Engineer.

Galgotias organise several technical, cultural and management festivals. There are literary events and dance competitions as well in which several universities participate.Galgotias also give opportunity to students to participate in college festivals of other colleges like IITs or NITs.Galgotias fest "G Quasar'' got a great reputation and is well renowned between other colleges.At least 40% of college participate in such events and even the rest participate in sports events of college.

Fee structure is feasible as its 1,17,000 rupees during my time and now its around 1,27,000 rs.Which is quite same as other private colleges of AKTU. The fees is feasible as it provides placements to its students which other private colleges of AKTU failed to offer. They charge the same but offers are less for students.

No Loans, No Scholarship from college itself.However the university AKTU offers the scholarships for financially weak studentsAlso loan is provided by banks easily if you got selected for this college as they are sure that u can pay your loan easily after securing a job from this college.

Campus life is great. College is quite lenient about attendance and you can come at anytime you want. There is also no dress code.Gender ratio is also good. In a class of 60 students you can easily see 20 girls atleast.There is no racism or any ragging now. Students are only indians coming mostly from UP and other states as well. There are a lot of workshops organised by the college. Some were even from IITs and NITs. There is a link of college with private firms like Cetpa Infotech. to provide short term courses for students and necessary certifications.There are colleges official branch clubs for example i was the coordinator of my Electrical Club "Synergee" which gave huge opportunities and a platform to interact with juniors easily.Rotaract club is also there which gets a lot of blood donations by the students.

The hostel fees is around 80k for a year for 4 seaters room. The hostel facility for buys is just OK but for girls is great. Girls pay around 1lakh10k for 3 seater room. The mess food is also just ok not edible after a month as its human tendency to avoid non-edible item. I personally hate it!

Seniors are quite helpful. They provide enough knowledge from their experience. They prepare us well mentally for the placements. Even when they are placed we can interact with them via social media. They also help us improve our skills and provide necessary guidance about the courses and certificates required to get a better job.Before the placements there was a workshop organised by the college in which alumni from our colleges came and told about their experiences. How they secured the job. What the company is looking for. How to be less nervous and interview tips. They also referred us books and online sources to improve our aptitude skills.

The labs lectures are just time pass. As i have already told that there is less scope for Research and more scope for placements.There are two sessional exams in a semester which are quite easy and less hectic.You can easily score nice marks in them.Some teachers won't pay any attention to what you have written, they just look at your name and your behaviour in class. Some of honest teachers look for answers and not your attitude in class. In case you left one of the seasonal exams you are provided another chance in terms of PUTs(Pre university tests) in order to either compensate your left exams or to improve your score. PUTs pattern is also the same as sessional tests.

After that i need to reserve the alloted seat so i submitted a demand draft of 10K rs. to the UPTU on its prescribed date and center. Soon i did my documentation at the Galgotias College on 19 June. There i submitted all the necessary documents like aadhar card, domicile certificate, 10th and 12th marksheets with passing certificate and UPSEE rank letter.The administration was great at the college because the faculties themselves were doing the registration procedure and they were quite experienced.I submitted a fees of 1,17,000 rs at the time of registration for the course at my college.

Some of the faculties were quite experienced and great while some were doing their daily job. In first year of my college there was a Engineering Mathematics teacher "P.K. sir" who was too passionate about his work and he made his lecture a fun to keep the interest of students.On the other hand there was a teacher "Dr. Mashood Hasan" though being a Phd its not worth it, he used to hate girls and subject knowledge was also poor. Most of the teachers was good as compare to other private colleges. All the teachers were either Btech , Mtech or PHd holders.
