Remarks

College management is poor. Only handful people are helpful and coordinate with students. But, if you meet the right people you are at a great place to graduate from.

Entrance Preview

JEE (Main) scored 160 and 94.6% in boards. The only option to study computer science among older NITs with my rank.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

The course includes all the important topics required to get a job in any software company. But, it also have courses which are obsolete. Latest subjects like big data, android, IoT etc are missing from the course structure. There are options to select subjects according to our preferences. Although, not many options are provided.

Internships Opportunities

Internship is mainly offered for the development of institute website. The stipend is 10000 per month. The internship is for 2 months. Institute provides accommodation. The internship provides good exposure to the students.

Placement Experience

3

Opportunities of jobs varies branch wise. Computer Science and Electronics branches have the best placements. During are last months, the companies are in abundance while there are less students as most of them are placed. While, core branches struggle for placements.

College Events

3.5

There are 4 major events. Annual Sports and Athletics Meet: It is an inter branch event. Culfest: As the name suggests, it is the cultural festival. It is one of the biggest cultural festivals in eastern india. Major attractions are Kavi sammelan, pro night, dj night, band performers, fashion, nukkad and dance. Ojass: It is the techno managment fest and is the 2nd largest in eastern india. People behold enormous participations from across the country. Robotics, Code mania, No ground zone, live CS, Comedy Night, Laser Show etc are the major attractions. Annual Alumni Meet: Alumni from India and abroad meet every year on this year to celebrate their 4 golden years of college life.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure used to be very cheap. But, recently it has gone high hoti 1 lac per semester due to fee Hugh by MHRD. Although, the fees is much less than private colleges. Also, fee waiver is provided to those students whose family income is less than 5 lacs.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan is offered by SBI-NIT branch. Apart from it several scholarships from state govt and several private firms like Jindal, tata cumins are also provided.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life is absolutely good. People learn to make use the available resources because not much resources are provided. For example, no auditorium is present in the campus. Yet, students are very active in extracurricular activities. Students participate in fests of other colleges are come back with flying colors. The gender ratio is poor yet better than IITs.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel facilities are one of the best in the country. Mega hostels are state of art hostels. Rooms have fans, bed, cupboard, table, chair, lan port and some hostels have attached balcony as well. Two of the hostels have open air auditorium inside their premises. Apart from this, basket ball courts, lawn tennis courts, cricket ground are also available. Mess food differs hostel wise.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni Network is growing exponentially. Recently one of the alumni donated 10 crore rupees to the institute for development of incubation centre.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is well distributed. There are two tests of 20 marks each instead of mid sems. This reduces the pressure among students. End sem is of 40 marks only. Rest 20 marks are allotted on the basis of performances in quiz, projects, assignments etc.

Admission

Online counselling was conducted by CDAC and the college was allotted. After the 1st round of counselling, we were required to any of the reporting centres listed by CDAC. After the last round, we had to report to the allotted college only for admission formalities.

Faculty

2

This is a weak part of the college. Computer Science Dept has only 4 permanent faculties. Rest all are hired on ad-hoc basis. Permanent faculties lack enthusiasm and don't have deep knowledge about the subjects. On the other hand, most of the ad-hoc faculties are full of energy with desire to reach, learn and research. Unfortunately, they leave if they get better offer from other colleges.

From 7th sem onwards students are able to face placements. Comapnies such as ZS, Deloite AB in bev microsoft visa comes here and normally takes 1-3 students. The highest package may vary from 40-50 lakhs and average is 4-5 lakhs. Internships opportunities are quite low here. In chemical enginnering only till now out of 120 students 20-30 got placed including out of campus palcements. I am hoping to do mba after pursuing the degree as there is less comapny visit for core branches.
