Remarks
Our college has the reputation of awarding good internals to students who are regular & of-course score well in internal tests. It's located in a picturesque place, silent and away from the hustle-bustle of the city. Management is good but lot more emphasis to be given to building awareness about working upon aptitude skills, career counseling to pre-final students etc.
Entrance Preview
Karnataka CET, 75 % Theory CET Ranking 6244. Opted for Dr. Thimmaiah Inst of Tech ( formerly GVIT) for it was highly reputed for "Mechanical Engineering"
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum across colleges in Bangalore university was the same. However the management had tied-up with BEML factory, and we had the advantage of executing our project work at the R&D Center of BEML. Thus was possible for the close ties our college management has with BEML.
Placement Experience
There was no placement cell while we did our engineering. However, things have improved a lot over the last decade. I have been fortunate enough to be instrumental in getting companies like "infotech enterprises", "Goodrich aerospace" for campus placements nearly a decade back.
College Events
Our college fest is known as "Gold Rush" was an awesome stress-buster! Most popular dignitaries from around the city would be part of the jury. And technically in our final sems, we had Project-work, wherein every group would try to excel, and there was a very healthy competition there as well.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Our friends who were day-scholars from "General Merit" category completed 4 years of engineering with a Total College Fee of Rs. 20,000/- ( all-inclusive ). And like ice-on-cake, Jindal group had sponsored yearly scholarships to all students who scored Distinction every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Jindal group had sponsored yearly scholarships to all students who scored Distinction every year.I'm sure over the last decade there could a lot more developments that could have taken place - not sure of the new developments.
Campus Life
As usual, in Mechanical branch it'as only Men's Group. But other branches nearly had a 40 M :60 F ratio In our batch. there was not much of discrimination, no student unions/politics, etc. Competitions were really healthy, and there's a universal truth - " Be it any college across the globe, when it comes to college-fest, Mechanical Engineers are the Champs ". today nearly 50% of our batch have settled abroad and are in most reputed MNC's / entrepreneurs / running start-ups etc.
Hostel Facilities
I'm not the right person to comment on the same, as I' as a Day-scholar and really did not have a first-hand experience to comment on the same. However, our friend's overall experience had been filled with good memories to share. I'm not sure of the rentals/quality of food in the mess as I did not have a first-hand exp.
Alumni/Alumna
Today nearly 50% of our batch have settled abroad and are in most reputed MNC's / entrepreneurs / running start-ups etc. some of them are BU heads,thought-leaders in companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro and some are in the top product Co's like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Cisco, IBM, Intel, Dell and many are running successful start-ups
Exam Structure
In a semester system, everything runs fast, by the time we have finished a sem exam we feel new sem exams approaching fast. of-course it's hectic, but being relaxed/getting stressed is up to an individual's nature/capacity. But there was always room for fun, our college fest is known as "Gold Rush" was an awesome stress-buster !
Admission
attended CET Counselling in Bengaluru, following which I had options to choose between MSRIT, BIT, GVIT and I chose GVIT. The fee for General Merit was Rs.5000/ annum - No fee apart from the same. One more appealing factor o choose GVIT was, it was closer to my home.
Faculty
For Mechanical engineering, the lecturers/professors/ HOD we had were on par with any of the reputed colleges in Bangalore university. Always in any college, there would be moments when existing lecturers would leave in-between for various reasons, and although the management would substitute with a new, there would be some gaps - which is obvious & inevitable.
