Why I Chose This College Over Other Options I am currently a 1st-year B.E. Chemical Engineering student at MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT). My decision to join MSRIT was based on a combination of academic reputation, placements, location, and long-term career opportunities, especially when compared with the other colleges I applied to. Colleges I Applied To & Admission Outcomes Colleges I Applied To: MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology BMS College of Engineering RV College of Engineering A few other COMEDK/KCET-affiliated private engineering colleges in Karnataka Confirmed Admission: MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology – Chemical Engineering Why I Chose MSRIT Over Others: MSRIT has a better overall reputation for core engineering branches compared to many private colleges. The placement record and alumni network are stronger, even for non-CS branches. The Bengaluru location provides exposure to internships, industrial visits, and technical events. Compared to some colleges where I could have gotten admission, MSRIT offered a better balance of academics, peer quality, and opportunities. Rejections / Colleges I Couldn’t Make It To I was not able to secure admission in top-tier colleges like RV College of Engineering due to higher cutoff ranks, especially for Chemical Engineering. The main reasons were: High competition in entrance exams like COMEDK/KCET A rank slightly below the cutoff for those colleges This was not due to eligibility issues, but purely due to cutoff constraints and seat availability. I applied to several engineering colleges including BMSCE, RV College of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar, and PES University. I received confirmed admissions from Dayananda Sagar and PES (through management). I chose Ramaiah Institute of Technology mainly because of its strong reputation, better campus environment, and consistently high placement record. RIT also felt more balanced in terms of academics, exposure, and overall student culture.I did get rejected from RVCE because my COMEDK rank wasn’t high enough for Civil Engineering in the first round. I wasn’t able to convert it even in the later rounds due to higher cutoffs.The admission process at RIT is straightforward. Admissions are based on KCET, COMEDK, and Management quota. KCET cutoffs for Civil are typically around 20,000 to 30,000, while COMEDK ranks are usually 25,000 to 35,000. Eligibility requires 10+2 with PCM. I have written KCET examination to get this college. Their were 3 rounds in the councelling, I have applied four, five colleges in the councelling, in that four five colleges one of the college was Ramaiah institute of technology, i got this college because my KCET rank was below previous year cut off. And also one of the reason to join Ramaiah institute of technology is it comes under the top colleges in Bangalore and it has good placements many top companies like Microsoft, Adobe ,etc.. visit the college for hiring the students. And also I got rejected from other colleges because my rank was not under the cut off of those colleges. Admission process is simple in Ramaiah institute of technology you need to submit all the documents which they will ask you to submit during admission process, there you need to pay some additional fees which is minimal, they take one photo of yours. My overall admission experience was great and it was simple. I gave many exams like JEE Mains, JEE Advanced, BITSAT, VITEEE, etc. I scored decent marks in all of them but none of them could get me CSE in a tier-1 college. My rank of 1641 in COMEDK got me CSE (AI ML) in this college. I found it better than other colleges because my priority was CSE only. I also applied in Bennett university, Noida as a backup option. But I got a seat in this college so I cancelled that. I found RIT better than Bennett in many aspects such as placements, crowd, Bangalore city, etc. I couldn't make it to a Tier 1 government college becaus of lack of preparation during my 11th and 12th standard.
