IIT JEE 2004 Name and reputation of the college made me take the choice and go for IIT Kanpur. I also considered the location.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course Curriculum and faculty of the college is one of the best in India. Though with coming up of new IITs, some of the faculty has shifted but it still remains the better choice.
Internships Opportunities
College has a great reputation, hence internship is never really a problem. You get options and even the general stipend will be more than enough. In any case, general stipend is around 25000.
Placement Experience
Again Placement Cell helps a lot in the campus placements and good companies like Google, Shell, Amazon and other giants visit the campus and offer handsome packages most of which are over and above 10 lakhs per annum.
College Events
College celebrates Antaragni which is a cultural festival and Techkriti as the technical festival. Similarly, There are events like Udghosh for sports and there are other events for movies and management. These festivals get good private funding.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure during our time was not much expensive with a fee of 20000 per semester. Now the fee has increased, But easy education loans from SBI are available. Hence fee is never a problem.
Fees and Financial Aid
Merit cum means scholarship is available for those who need this. Apart from that, as i already mentioned educational loans are easily available from good banks like SBI.
Campus Life
Extra curricular activities are promoted here a lot and everyone gets ample time for these. There are regular sports competitions with good grounds to play. Overall it offers a good mix of studies and extracurriculars.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are great with free unlimited wifi and good canteens. Mess food is generally not that good in terms of taste, though it certainly in healthy. Anyway canteen in each hostel serves the purpose.
Alumni/Alumna
IIT Kanpur, being one of the premier engineering colleges of India, has one of the largest alumni networks in India which is supplemented by similar networks from other IITs. Senior students are really cooperative and you can always ask for help.
Exam Structure
Its a mix of both. There are 3 exams in total in a semester - 2 mid semesters and 1 end semester exam. Apart from that, there are quizzes some of which may be surprise quizzes. Overall, it has its phases some of which are really hectic.
